Is the following setup possible with a single Sonos Amp? From press releases about the Amp I thought it was, but I find it strange that it's not mentioned in the online manual (https://www.sonos.com/support/en/sonos-user-guide/index.html#t=sonos-user-guide%2Famp%2Famp.htm): - TV connected to Sonos Amp via HDMI arc. - Passive wired speakers connected to the Sonos Amp wired terminals, providing two front channels + phantom center. - Sonos Sub connected to the sub terminal, providing the .1. - Two Sonos wireless speakers connected wirelessly to the Amp, providing the rear channels. I know is otherwise possible to get surround sound with two Amps or with a Playbar/Beam + Amp, but I would like to avoid that (both for price reasons and because I prefer rear speakers to be wireless, so as not to have visible cables through the room). So I was hyped on the possibility of the above setup. I hope it's possible even if it doesn't appear in the manual. Also another question (secondary)
I just bought into the Sonos Experience on New Years. The sales rep. said their was rumor of the playbar..which led to my decision to buy (2) play 5's, in hopes that in the near future I could also use them for Hometheater experience. What I have read thus far concerns me. No mention of Play 5 combined with Playbar.?? Will they work, or did I make a mistake....??
What is the best way to hook up my outdoor speakers to my existing Sonos network? I have a Sonos Connect in my living room for my home theater and 2 Play1's throughout the house...Is there an AB selector that I can get to install between the Connect & my outdoor speakers / home theater? I was thinking I could use this to separate the signal or have both "zones" play at the same time. Then I would buy a cheapo amp to power the outdoor speakers. Any help would be great!
I'm a few months into my Sonos setup, and absolutely love it. Yes, my first (two!) cars didn't cost this much, but I consider it one of the best investments I've ever made. I have 5 zones with a mix of Play:5 and Play:3 speakers, and also using my own speakers -- which is where the trouble is. In my living room, I have a Connect:Amp hooked up to a pair of Polk RTiA1 speakers (http://www.polkaudio.com/products/rtia1). The sound is... disappointing. I should clarify: The sound is spectacular, certainly more sophisticated than from my Play:3 or Play:5 speakers, which already sound great. But it doesn't seem as "powerful" as it should be, for lack of a better word. For one thing, with all zones on the same volume setting, my living room speakers are noticeably quieter than the others. I have to turn up the volume in that room by perhaps 20% to equal the volume being played elsewhere. Also, with the volume set somewhere around 5% maybe, there's not really any music coming o
New to sonos having recently purchased a PLAYBAR and PLAY1 for my main living room tv and dining area. I am enjoying the ease of use. I need some help on integrating sonos into my new pool house and dedicated media room. I have very limited knowledge of AV equipment. Brief description of setup-with a goal of 3 audio zones: ZONE 1: Media room with Denon AVR X3400H and 5. 1 surround set up (not using sonos speakers for the surround set up). Denon AVR output to projector and outdoor tv. Cable box, DVD player, and Roku input to receiver. Sonos CONNECT hooked up to AVR-*see below ZONE 2: outdoor tv, one pair of outdoor speakers( wired into closet in media room). Outdoor speakers powered by CONNECT:AMP ZONE 3: 2 pairs of in ceiling speakers indoors in the pool house-but separate from media room (again wired to av closet in media room). In ceiling speakers powered by CONNECT:AMP My goals are: 1) Be able to stream music from sonos app to one or any combination of the audio zone
Hi there. So, I have an Nvidia Shield, and 3 Play:1's (one of them is being used in the kitchen only). I really want the sound from my shield (when using Kodi etc) to go out through the Play:1's I know this is not possible without another Sonos Product. This is why Im strongly considering buying the Connect. My question for you is: Will I be able to output sound from my Nvidia Shield, when the Connect is plugged into my Smart tv?
I very much expect this has been asked for before, but is there any way to display/use the Sonos controller on the TV? I'd really like to see the album art, queue etc and be able to have a good way for guests to see/choose music and for that to be a conversation point even! An app shouldn't be too hard to implement on the major brands of smart TV. Much of the industry is driving towards making the TV the entertainment hub for the home.
Has anyone upgraded from Connect to Port and noticed any appreciable improvement in sound quality (with same source material and speakers, of course)? How about any audible difference between these Sonos products and the Bluesound node 2.0i, preferably using same source? (I would expect Bluesound with Hi-Res streaming to sound better than Sonos)
I have a number of clients that have installed Sonos in their bars/restaurants. A lot of them wanted us to recess an iPad into a wall (using Sonance mounts) and use the Rhapsody service exactly like a jukebox. The only issue is that the customers would constantly override the existing song by selecting "Play Now". Would you consider adding a "jukebox" setting that would only allow the user to "Add to Queue"? The "Play Now" feature is also an issue at my house when there is a party. Most people do not have the patience to listen to a song picked by another individual. I would love to be able to lock down this behaviour.
This topic has been beat to death on this forum. I am hoping this thread generates enough interest to at least peak the interest of the money makers at Sonos and hopefully this or a version of it is put into production. A "Zone Player Pro" would be Ampless and have One (1) Coax and One (1) Optical Digital Outputs in a standard 17" Audio/HT component case. Forget any and all other requests, for now, such as rackmount, color, additional features, or a Price Reduction. Lets assume it will cost the same as the current Zone player $499, anything less would be a bonus. Simply put, do you want and would you purchase a "Zone Player Pro".
So it's Boxing day, and I've just received a lovely big SONOS Play:1 speaker for Christmas. I set the speakers up and try to find them on my system. Nothing. I do some research, trying to figure out why I can only play through SONOS app and verified programmes approved through the SONOS app. Why something which clearly cost more than a few pretty pennies is essentially useless for anything other than playing music. No live sound, no video sync, nothing but music through SONOS. So the decrepit old speakers I have had since 2000 are essentially doing a better job than the basic model of SONOS. Not only this but my cheap shower bluetooth speaker I bought for my boyfriend (£5.99) can do what this supposedly amazing modern and high quality technology cannot. Which is play ANY sound off of my computer or phone that I want it to. How is this a complicated concept and why, after literally years and years of community comments and wailings and clearly strong customer dissatisfaction hav
I just got a connect amp and wired it up with a pair of outdoor Polk Atrium 4 speakers. After I got everything installed I went to play some tunes... I had to have to volume to about 50% on the slide bar on the app before I really heard any music out of the speakers, and even then it wasn’t very loud and I was standing right next to the speakers. If I had the volume up to 80% or higher it got closer to a normal listening level, but didn’t leave much room for advancement. I typically listen to my play 1 or sound bar between 30-50% unless we are having a party. I’ve read other reviews where the Sonos amp and a pair of outdoor speakers is blowing their neighbors away, I don’t feel like mine are getting that loud. Do I need better speakers or is it the amp?? I bought the amp open box excellent condition from Best Buy, I just want to make sure something isn’t wrong with it before my 15 day return window is up. Any feedback would be appreciated!
I got a ZP120 in 110V mode and connected it to a 220V current. Now, unsurprisingly, it does not work anymore. I could obviously bring it in for repair but I am wondering whether I could take care of that myself in a more timely fashion. Obviously I will loose my warranty by opening the ZP but I don't mind as long as I know for sure that I can fix the problem myself (otherwise I would loose the warrenty AND not got the ZP working again!). Could someone tell me whether there is something simple like a fuse or so inside that I could simply replace?! Does anybody have experience? Sonos staff, can you help me? I am surprised anyway that the controllers ship with 110-220V adapters while the ZP have to be switched manually. But that is another discussion... Thanks for any help!
Trying to setup 2 Sonos play 1 through iPhone app following the steps in the standard set up I choose my first play 1 it deosnt ask me to press anything on the device goes straight to airport setup gathering information about my network asks me to set the name then try to set the play one to my wifi info on screen says waiting for sonos 1 AND THEN unexpected error try different setup how do I setup the up with iphone
If you are pairing up a Sonos Amp to run in-ceiling surround speakers with a Playbar, can you use to Amp's HDMI ARC input (from your tv) to control the entire setup? Basically bypassing the optical input on the Playbar. Playbar and Amp would be connected to ethernet switch. Also could your Sub be wireless or would it need an ethernet connection too?
I have a bridge and connect which are both showing as active and setup correctly (I've had my Sonos for 4 years with no issues until now). However, suddenly the volume on my speakers is insufficient (like a whisper even when turned to max volume). Any suggestion please? I tried calling the 800# but the wait time was well over 30 minutes.
Hi Guys, hoping somebody may be able to help me out here please. On Sunday my system prompted me to update, which I did but then the update failed to complete, which is a new one on me. The 'Connect' in my system has now disappeared from the controller and has a solid red light on the front, I have tried various reboots and even tried a reset but the unit appears unresponsive to even this. I have 2 x play 3, 1 x play 5 (mk1) along with the connect controlled by iphones. I've had various intermittent problems over the years with all of it, mostly local network issues but this is the first time a unit appears to have failed completely. Any thoughts would be gratefully received. Bill
