I just purchased a house with a multi-room system that has a 12 channel amplifier (Niles 1230) to power 6 zones. I have a connect:amp that I previously used to power a single set of speakers. I was wondering if I would be able to use the connect:amp as a source for the multi channel amp or if I would need to purchase a connect to do so? Thanks!
Hi My son is about to start university and will have access to the college internet through an ethernet port. I have read previous threads on access in such situations but wonder if this specifically should work : BTHomeHub5 - disabled WIFI both frequencies; ethernet wired to access point. Play 1 and laptop ethernet wired to BTHH5. Will laptop be able to control Play1? Alternatively, if Play1 ethernet wired to access point, can laptop or android phone connected to WiFi control the unit? John
Hello - The speaker terminal port of my connect:amp broke off this past weekend. I can replace it on my own (I have experience building amplifiers) but I do not know how to disassemble the connect:amp housing. I cannot locate any screws on the bottom of the unit. Can anyone provide a guide or set of instructions to open the amp housing, without damaging? Thanks! ABaur
Hi there, i own a Sonos Sub and i have the EQ on max and the advanced Sub setting on max. i was wondering if this is bad and could i damage my Sub by playing music at high volume. i listen to songs that are very bass sided such as Rap Hip hop R&B Trap Reggae and so on... is it safe to play songs with the max settings on the sub or not because i do not want to damage my speakers or having them blow at high volume. can they handle the bass without damaging?
Hi guys, I've tried to update my sonos system and it seems to have update all my speakers apart from the Sonos Bridge. I've unplugged, power cycled whilst holding the button in, but it still is coming up with a failure when trying to update. If I click use anyway, I can use as normal, it just doesn't seem to want to update. Any suggestions?
I didn't see this anywhere else in the community. If it's already listed somewhere feel free to remove it. For anyone who is using their Play 5 Gen 2 speakers without floor stands and have them setting on a desk or counter this newly released Flexson Play 5 (Gen2) Desktop Stand are worth a look. When I purchased the Sonos Gen2 Play 5’s (configured in stereo pair w/Sonos Sub) no stands were available. Therefore, I purchased two garden style Marble Top Tables (27.75 H x 10.75 W x 10.75 D / Marble Top 0.5 H x 11 W x 11 D). Measurements are in inches. By the time Flexson introduced upright stands for the Play 5 Gen2 speaker I’d resigned myself to stick with the Marble Top Tables (which my wife liked better anyway). Then I happened upon the Flexson Desk Top Stands for the Play 5. IMO they are well built and sturdy. Capable of sustaining the angle you set them to under the weight of a Play 5 Gen2 speaker. They even have a laser cut finish that exposes the aluminum which runs across
I am holding fire on buying a Sonos Playbar because I am waiting for the Playbar to be supplied in white. When is this likely to happen in the UK? So far, I have purchased IN WHITE the unit that connects to the internet, a PLAY 1 and a PLAY 5. How come I cannot find a white Playbar? Awaiting your kind advice.
Hi all As the name suggests when my play3 connects to my Wifi Range extender, I get an error message saying sonos doesn't work with Wifi extenders. Does anyone know the rationale behind this? Also, what are my options in terms of trying to get a speaker to work in the dead spots of my apartment in lieu of an extender? Thanks in advance Paul
Hi All, I already have a sonos connect amp powering some in ceilings, as well as a play 1. I now want to use an AV receiver with a SONOS connect and have a few questions: When I hit play on the connect amp, there is no turning the system on (its auto sensing)...I just hit play pn the app and it plays. If I'm using an AV receiver though, won't I have to switch the source to wherever the SONOS connect is plugged into.....as well as making sure the AV receiver is always on (or manually turning it on each time I want to use it which is not 'clean'). Is there a way around this or am I just incorrect? Also...I though I read about an AV receiver that basically had the connect built into it? Does this exist? Thanks all!
It looks like the Connect is no longer bit-perfect. Here's my evidence: let's discuss this. First, I constructed a wav file of pink noise with amplitude ramping up from zero to digital max and back to zero. I play this through my Connect and record the SPDIF output from the coax output into my PC. The recording uses a Scarlett 8i6 audio interface set to use the Connect as master clock. I record into a DAW (Sonar) multiple times - all instances are identical. However, this recorded signal is not quite the same as the original wav file - it can be up to -21dB different. See https://www.dropbox.com/s/t8od479xo9hi5el/connect_diff.PNG?dl=1 Note the expanded scale on the difference (third) track. It looks like the difference gets larger when the signal is larger. To confirm this, I import the original and difference files into Matlab and plot the raw data (difference vs original). There is clearly audio compression happening here. I don't have sonos but would like to use it as part of a smart home system. I'm curious if it would be possible to have sonos linked to motion sensors. Therefore as you walk theough your house the music moves with you. It turns off when you leave the room and continues in the next room or hallway you enter.
Hi, Sonos aside, what I'm trying to describe is how a song sounds when you listen to it with only 1 speaker (of a 2 speaker pair) activated and you can only hear one "half" of the song in that speaker. The leading instruments (as an example) sound muted, as they are supposed to be played out of the second speaker. This effect is happening on my solo Play 1 speaker, albeit only for certain songs. If you want to try and replicate, play "Dear Mr. Fantasy" from this album on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/4DVHx9Smqa6ZZX99rU4zkI For me, the leading vocals and guitar are quite muted. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
I have a zp100 that I bought used and does not qualify for Rma. Recently, it began dropping off the network. After troubleshooting with tech support, it seems the unit freezes up. It begins working again after reboot, until it freezes up again. It can last anywhere from 1 to 10+ hours between incidents. By freezes up, I mean to say that it does not respond to button pushes on the unit itself. The led remains solid white, but no response to buttons and it is no longer visible on the network. After reboot, it behaves as expected for a while. We have identified it is not an ip conflict. Also, the network ports continue to work on the back, even when the unit is frozen. This behavior happens whether connected via wire or wireless. Tech support says it is a failing unit and not a network issue. I am looking for others who have had similar problems to see if they were able to diagnose and repair the unit on their own. Or, I am looking for advice for a good repair center that I
Hi- I have just purchased the Connect so I can get away from AirPlay-(interruptions with phone calls and things). I have hooked my connect up with the supplied RCA connectors- I will be getting an optical cable soon. The trouble is with the volume. While using AirPlay, I have to keep the Receiver(Sony STR-DN1030) volume at below 7 so it is not too loud. After hooking up the Connect, I have to start the volume near half-way just to hear it. I have changed the connect to "fixed" level and this helped a bit, but it is still way quieter than the level of any other source. My concern is that the receiver does not default to a low level and if anybody goes to AirPlay and I don't catch it and lower the volume first it could be an issue. Is there a way to get the Connect to a level that is at least a lot closer to every other source input? This might be the deal breaker. I had to convince my wife that it was worth the purchase in the first place, but as of now, I have been proven wr
Hello, I am new here so excuse me if I started in the wrong "area". I have the following feature request: Is it possible to create an option to Disable/Enable the buttons on de speakers (selectable to wich speaker) through the Sonos app? Now there is already a similar like the LED light on the speaker wich you can turn off. The reason for this request is I have a small child that is exploring the world :$ She has noticed the buttons and now can turn on the Sonos system and play with the volume. Thanks in advance!! Cyrille
Hi there. So, I have an Nvidia Shield, and 3 Play:1's (one of them is being used in the kitchen only). I really want the sound from my shield (when using Kodi etc) to go out through the Play:1's I know this is not possible without another Sonos Product. This is why Im strongly considering buying the Connect. My question for you is: Will I be able to output sound from my Nvidia Shield, when the Connect is plugged into my Smart tv?
I've recently acquired an Audio Technica AT-LP120 turntable and am looking into connecting it to my Sonos system. I've scoured the forums and am pretty sure about the answer, but thought I'd double check with you guys. The turntable has a built-in preamp, so am I right in assuming that I can wire it to a Connect and stream it to my Sonos speakers without the need for a separate amplifier? There won't be any speakers wired directly to the turntable (I've already got a Connect:Amp wired to some Cambridge Audio floorstanders in the living room, but the boss won't allow a turntable in there!). Thanks in advance.
