Sony Bravia

TV is Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR2. Just got Playbar to add to Play 1s. Am not able to connect sound via tv optical cable as not being recognized in set up. Does work however through cable box. Problem is can't include Apple TV as it's an input before the tv (as is cable box). I've read the problem may be due to HDMI cable impacting sound exiting tv through tv's optical outlet. May also be only on older Bravia. Does anyone know a software or hardware fix for this so I can use the tv optical outlet instead of the cable box? Everything else with this Sonos system has been so easy. Seems a tv problem though. Thanks

Windows 10 Upgrade KB3201845, ITunes Library not able to be Shared with Sonus

On 12/12/2016, I placed a request with Sonus Tech Support for help, as my Sonus Controller could not access my ITunes music library. I was receiving the message, "Reason: Unable to add the shared folder \\DESKTOP-XXXXXX\Music to your Music Library (1002)." After sending Sonus Tech Support my request for help, I did more discovery and found that a Windows 10 Update, KB3201845, had been installed on 12/9/2016, which is when the issue began. I deinstalled the Windows update and Sonus is now working properly, and I am able to add/access my ITunes library. I have also contacted Microsoft, and am told that this is an issue that Sonus needs to rectify with an upgrade to their latest controller software to make sure that it is compatible with the latest Windows 10 Upgrade. This note is informational, if others are experiencing the same issue and also so Sonus can look into the capability issues between the above Windows update and Sonus.

Bluetooth to play Audiobooks on iPod Touch

Just got off SONOS support (good, by the way). I had purchased a Bluetooth receiver to plug into Line In on a CONNECT:AMP so I can play Audiobooks on my iPod Touch. Sound out to the speakers connected to the CONNECT:AMP but not to the upstairs SONOS 3. Support spent some time with me. Finally we tried just exchanging the Bluetooth receiver for audio output directly from the iPod audio jack. Worked. So, I guess it is my problem, not SONOS. Leaves me to try and figure out why the line in from the bluetooth receiver connection just half works.

Seagate Personal Cloud or WD My Cloud

Hi Everyone, I know this topic is probably beaten to death already, but I could really use your help. We are looking at either the Seagate or WD cloud NAS for our home; it's predominant purpose will be for our music storage to play on Sonos. I've read all the reviews I could find (nothing that really helped as a comparison of these 2 units exactly), but I'm still stuck as to which will be the best choice to work with Sonos. We're using 2 MacBook Air laptops and Samsung tablets / phones. I would have to say Time Machine compatibility would be the secondary main requirement, which I believe both do. I have looked at the other manuf. but hubby is computer technology challenged so I really am just looking at the Seagate or WD. Would greatly appreciate your help!! Thank you, Heather

One click solution to disjoin and join two rear speakers from a surround setup with playbar.

Hi! Create a surround setup, and disable it requires a bit of work both in app and touch of buttons. Its nothing you want to do every day the way it is done now. To have full joy for music and other stuff, it is often better to have the two rear speakers as stereo or even single speakers. Would be perfect if Sonos could make an easy solution to switch these two modes. Thoughts? Have not found a way to do this today.

I have decided to get a record turntable again, and I can see from the questions asked that it seems to be possible with a pre amp to play on of these through my Play 5. Has any one done this, were you pleased with the results, what deck and pre amp did you use? Any info you have will be useful. Regards, David

Connect BassShaker / Buttkicker / Basspump

I have a couple of Buttkicker laying around from my former home cinema. I have now moved to an apartment, and I sure would like to have those Buttkicker installed in my sofa, as I can't play that loud any longer. I have the Playbar + Sub + 2 Play1. I'm used to electronics, but I don't want to open my brand new sub, to try get the subwoofer signal. There's a sub output on the Play Amp, could this perhaps be configured for the setup? Or could I possible use the speaker output from a Play Amp, with low pass crossovers?

Checked on the status of my order. Status of my delivery is "Processing". How does that relate to delivery status. I paid for next day delivery and it has been 2 days and I fear the speakers haven't been shipped yet.

Network drive

Hey, I connected a hard drive to my modem and then added one of the folders to my music library on Sonos. Everything was working great, i was playing it at a party and then the next morning it stopped working. It kept saying permission denied. I removed the folder and tried to re add and now it can't connect. I can connect from my computer though. The only thing that changed is that i added Spotify and also, unplugged the sonos speaker. Any ideas?

Cant add 4th speaker

I have three working Sonos speakers, two 3 and one 1. I bought a fourth one (Play 1) and I am trying to install it. When the guide takes me to the place where I am supposed to press "+" and "play/pause" I hear the sound but after a while th guide tells me that it could not find my Sonos product. I reset the speaker and try again, same issue. I try with the Ethernet cable: same issue. I do a hard reset of the existing three speakers ans start over. I can add three speakers without any problem but the fourth (regardless of which it is) will fail in the setup. I have of course tried everything in the troubleshooting guide and since random three speakers work but not the fourth, its not a common network issue. Any help appreciated. And: Sending is link to the troubleshooting guide appreciated but not necessary

True play stole my bass?

Hello. I was delighted with my new Play 5 (II) for Christmas as its for a living room (I have playbar, 2 play 1's and Sub in an open plan room. I wanted the Play 5 to extend music throughout the house and as a standalone line in to a second TV in that room (rather than get another Play bar). It works great - I love how you can play different music in 2 rooms and the TV sounds great too. only thing is - I set up with true play and it literally stole all the bass. true play off toggle sounds great - with it - no punch. Any ideas why this would be? It's placed on a small unit about a foot or 18 inches off the floor under a modest 43 inch flatscreen TV

Does the 5 Gen 2 improve after running it in?

I've just replaced my 5 Gen 1 with a new 5 Gen 2 and I'm ??? Not blown away, in fact at the moment i think i prefer my Gen 1. I can hear the improvement in the new speaker (definitely a bigger range to bass) but the Gen 1 was sweeter. I'm hoping after the new speaker has been used for a few weeks it will improve. Does anyone else have any view/experience of this?

Connect:AMP (ZP100) will act as bridge but doesn't show connection on Sonos App.

Recently, my ZP100 that I used outside (for the past 8 years) was continually dropping out so I tried to clean it, blow out the dust and moved it inside. Still it would drop out. So i thought maybe it is the mesh connection and moved it to be the unit that connects to my router in my home office. That seemed to work but then it still dropped out. However, weirdly, it can act as the base unit for all the rest of my mesh (7 other units) but basically doesn't show up on the Sonos app nor does it play music in my home office. SO, short situation, it works fine as the base unit but drops off the Sonos app and doesn't play music. I have done factory resets etc.

Dont know where to start....

Well, first of, i hope that mods will move the post to the correct sub-dir. Okay, I'll start by posting my whises and current setup, maybe if ur still reading this you'll see things more from my perspective. Me and my gf currently rent a small apartment, but we (me) are eager to start making it a nicer and smarter home, with a sound system that we can use for our upcomming house. We are both students so price is a factor we consider but alas we, (I) due love quality and esthetics. Therefor I've been praising sonos (tho I didn't/don't know that much about it) We both have and will for the near future use a lot of apple products, that means we both use iPhones, an iPad and an MacBook. We (me again) have an pc, which we use as a video server/workstation. We do have a tv in our living room currently with Apple TV gen 1, and a shitty-to-embarrassed-to-admit Samsung 5.1 home surround system! Connecting Sonos Amp to 4 speakers- will it reduce quality of sound?

Hello Everyone, I am new to Sonos. I just purchased a Sonos Connect music streaming device yesterday and connected it to my 28 year old Sony GX60ES Receiver and I am thrilled with being able to stream all my music from my iPhone! It works extremely well! However, I have a few questions about my speaker set up with 4 speakers and whether or not I should keep the Sony GX60ES receiver or switch to a Sonos Connect AMP. Sonos Connect - Echo Dot and Rega Fono A2D

Hi I have just received a Sonos Connect and an Amazon Echo Dot for Christmas. Does anyone know wether I can connect both the echo dot and a rega fono a2d Turntable pre-amp into the connect using an RCA Phono Male to 2 female audio splitter adapters ? Effectively having both the echo dot and the pre-amp going into the audio in on the connect ? I hope the above makes sense ??

Wireless listening in 3 rooms

I'm new to wireless listening. Please help. We listen to Sirius XM in 3 rooms in my dental office, and recently scrapped the 3 antennae (and the subscriptions) we were using for them (big reception problems). I just signed on for one XM account with internet access, and I'd to use it to continue having XM in those 3 rooms. I room One, I'd like to buy a SONOS PLAY:1 and stream XM through a tablet, but for the other two rooms they already have built-in speakers I'd like to keep using. What to do? Buy two blue-tooth enabled receivers and two tablets for them?

Help with signal to Play 1 in studio

Hi there. I have Play 1 speakers scattered throughout our house along with a Playbar for our TV. Everything works great and we love Sonos. Our system is set up through a Netgear wireless router and a plug in wireless router extension. (Our house is long and the signal needs to travel from one end of the house where the main router is located to the other end, so the extender allows us to achieve wireless performance throughout. Our problem is that we have a studio/shed that my wife uses which is located about 250 feet from the house. It can be seen directly from the area where the main router is located. Wireless connectivity to the studio is spotty. The performance of the Play 1 located in the studio is very spotty. Some days it works fine, but most of the time the signal is dropped repeatedly. I have had the room disappear completely from the system. We have noticed that we get a good wireless signal with a macbook but not as strong a signal on an iphone. The location of the ma

How do you set up Sonos on a Surfboard G.hn Ripcurrent network?

I just moved into a very old house with an odd shape and lots of obstacles (slate shingles, plaster, wood slat walls, sheet rock, asbestos siding, etc.). With all of this, my Wi-Fi network does not extend from one room to the next very well, let alone from 1st to second floor or the length of the house. I bought a few Surfboard G.hn devices that do very well at providing the Wi-Fi hotspots where I need them inside (and outside) the house, however, every extender has it's own SSID. Since it all connects into the same router, I can communicate with any device on any Surfboard SSID (Wi-Fi lights, Thermostats, etc.) and I can even have the Windows computer on one SSID controlling the bridge/speaker on another SSID but have not had success getting multiple rooms to consistently play or even stay grouped (not in BOOST or standard setup). I would like to be able to hardwire each component into its own separate Surfboard network extender (to go back to the only router) or connect to separa

Apple music top songs for band

Why doesn't Apple Music on Sonos allow you to see top songs for a band or am I missing something? When I search for a band and select the band, I want to see the top songs for the band, but all it shows are albums, unlike the Apple Music app itself and other music apps that show top songs on Sonos.
