Has anyone tried mounting an amp sideways behind TV? or would there be any problems?I have a set of ceiling speakers that are wired to behind my TV and I’d like a clean hidden wires setup, so I’m considering mounting my amp behind the TV somehow. The cable limitations for the HDMI are driving me to this solution.
I have a SONOS ARC + SUB in one room of a LARGE home.In another part of the home I have a rack of SONOS AMPS driving multi room audio.I tried adding the AMP driving the ceiling speakers to the room where I installed the SONOS ARC and sub. I cannot get the surrounds to Join…. the SONOS tech tells me the ARC uses a 5Ghz band to communicate DIRECTLY with the SONOS AMP for the surround channels. and that the AMP in the rack must be too far away for this 5GHz signal -coming form the ARC to reach. Huh? why isnt the ARC the WIFI network?I tried hard wiring the ARC and the SONOS AMP to the switch.. still wont join.. any ideas ? what is really happening? do I REALLY need to move the SMP into the same room as theARC? - seems strange to have to do this.
I want to order a new gen2 Play 5 on the upgrade program but it is over the VAT threshold value. The check out screen does not show the VAT content so am I likely to get charged an additional 20% by HMRC or does SONOS reduce the invoice price by the 20%?
Lockdown boredom has got the better of me so I’ve been thinking about what Sonos could next.Currently I have a Playbase 5.1 system with 1s as rears, a Beam, Port connected turntable, 1s in other rooms. All connect by the S2 app. What I’d like to see is a new amp with eARC for LPCM like the Arc and three channels for the front to include a centre. Sonos could also sell a range of passive speakers based on 1s? for front duties that would then allow trueplay which I’ve found does an excellent job of room calibration.I really think this would sell well, the Beam doesn’t sound as good as my Playbase, neither can handle LPCM, the Arc is quite substantial. I think a lot of people would see this as a great alternative to the huge AV amps available.Any thoughts?
Hi my new Sonos amp continues to disconnect from the Sonia system. I had spent over 6hrs with Sonos help trying to resolve the issue (amp connected via Ethernet cable) only to be advised that I need to set up a separate mesh network for it to work. Well I have now done this with a tp link AC1300 whole home mesh and I HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM!! There was never a problem with the first gen amp. I am sooo fed up with Sonos now that after being an advocate for years I am advising people not to bother. Have spent a small fortune in upgrading and have a system that is not fit for purpose. Are any of you able to help? The mesh signal is really strong in the room where the amp is. It it continues to drop out from the system I am at my wits end
From Amp / Port to Arc: Can the Arc play music from analog devices connected to Sonos Amp or Sonos Port? I have a CD player and a turntable which I would like to listen to using the Arc. Is it possible to connect them to Port or Amp and stream the music to the Arc speakers or do I need to get an additional speakers? From Arc to Amp / Port: Can input from the TV going to Arc be streamed to Amp or Port and played over the wired speaker connected to them? Thanks!
Hi all, i have a small room with a projector and a sonos amp up from driving two b&w cwm650’si also have a b&w 610 sub attached. I then have a sonos connect amp g2 with 2x cwm650s as reads. it sounds pretty good if I’m honest but would it sound much better if I ditched the front cwm650s in exchange for some sonos architectural in walls and the trueplayed it? would it be a massive change? Would be interested to hear.
Hi,I am using a Sonos Connect with my studio monitors.I would like to buy a Neumann KH750 subwoofer and connect directly the digital output of the Connect to the KH750 digital input.I read that :“The KH 750 DSP subwoofer only supports non-encoded AES3 and S/P-DIF signals. Encoded signals such as MP3, DTS or Dolby Digital are not supported.”I would like to know if Spotify + Connect will work ?Thanks for your help !
From the way Sonos has grown and improved over the last few years I can see them launching headphones soon.Similar concept as the Roam in the way it can be docked (+charge) when not in use, It would group to a room as the Ikea SYMFONISK Sound remote does, when you pick it up from the dock it could auto mute the room (toggle option in the settings) - diverting audio to the headphones. Headphones should have Bluetooth like the Move and Roam for when out of the house. Not something I will personally use but I can see a lot of elderly customers and people who have cinema setups using this.Few thoughts on how it could work:Toggle option for auto muting (or not) the grouped room upon removal from the dock Option for a user to be able to listen to headphones whilst another user is still listening to the existing Sonos speakers, same audio coming out of all (good for a user who is hard of hearing) Headphone dock could have an audio input External charger as well as dock More in depth EQ setting
Hello. I’m more than happy to airplay from Apple Music to my Sonos speakers but I have a question for you. I’ve been taking a look to Cambridge audio cxn v2 and the new Evo unit (this one is a bit redundant as it comes with an internal amplifier). The idea is to haga a device that I can plug an hdd unit with flac music and connect it to the Sonos speaker. As an aside, it also provides a display where you can see the cover art, title etc. which is also neat. Questions are: can the Cambridge audio be connected to Sonos via wifi or only via line in? are there other solutions that provide a display and the capability of playing hdd files?thanks !
Plan to power my B&W LM 1’s with my Connect 1 amp. Will use my wonderful Denon DCD 1560 and, I hope,Qobuz. I don’t want to add on to the Sonos hookup that runs elsewhere. Two question: the office room for this is going to need its own router, and the Connect has lost its power chord. (It couldn’t be me.) Would welcome suggestions and a power cord for sale.
Would there be any issue sending a variable level input into the Amp? I’d like to hook up a pre-amp to be able to select among several source components (CD/vinyl/tape), keep the Amp itself at a fixed volume level, and control volume with the pre-amp physical control rather than the Sonos app.Related to that, does the Amp maintain separate volume levels for the RCA and HDMI inputs? I’d like to hook up a TV directly to the Amp as well; would changing the TV volume effect the volume level that I’d set for the RCA input? In other words, assuming the above pre-amp scenario works, would I need to adjust the Amp volume every time I switched from HDMI to RCA? Or would the Amp remember the last-used RCA volume setting? Thanks!
Hello All,I’ve a Connect running happily for a few years, but over the past week or so, it has been dropping off the Sonos network. If I reboot it it works for a while and then drops off again, in at most, a day. This Connect is wireless. The rest of my setup is perfectly fine. Any ideas? Thanks,Ian
Hello I’m considering buying something like Cambridge audio Evo 75 or Cambridge cxn v2. Question is: if I connect any of these devices from pre out to play 5 line in, I’ll be using the Sonos dac? How will sound quality would be versus direct streaming from iPad ?
