Amazon Echo dot help

When I am in the amazon Alexa app and it is searching for wifi and Bluetooth devices the sonos play1 speaker doesn't show up. The play1 uses Bluetooth I thought or does do both wifi and Bluetooth?

I don't see my play1 in my phones wifi or Bluetooth settings. I can play music using my sonos app to the play1. Can I also connect the play1 to play music coming from other music apps with out using the sonos app?

I have Sonos speakers all over my house except in the room I have my office PC. I know you can run the Windows SOnos App to control your Sonos speaker, but is there any way to run the stream I hear throughout my house through my PC speakers when I am in my office?

Multiple Home WiFi Connections

Hi, At home, I have a few different networks with associated WiFi SSIDs (e.g. trusted, guest, IoT). I would like the Sonos device to be on my 'IoT' network but I want to be able to control it from devices on my 'trusted' and maybe 'guest' network, which, of course, use a different SSIDs ``. Unfortunately, when I try to control the Sonos from a device connected to a different SSID the Sonos App gives me a message effectively saying 'sorry, different WiFi name, can't do it'. Now, I don't think there is a technical reason for this block, because if (for testing purposes) I placed the App in one network and the Sonos in another then allow the correct ports between them but make sure their connected to the same SSID - it works (I did this test by connecting to my home VPN, which puts the App device in a different network). Anyway, short story, can I just tell the App or Sonos to ignore the fact that the SSID doesn't match because I know it will work anyway? Tried to exp

Play 3 or Play 1 for Rear Surround

Honestly, I have the darnedest time finding a good pros and cons of using Play 1 or Play 3 as the rear in a 5.1 Surround Setup. I have currently have a 3.1 Setup (for you noobs that's the playbar + sub), a "spare" Play 5, it's usually in the garage but I will set it up outside in the backyard when we have parties, and the boost. Obviously in the inside, it is the Sub and Play Bar. The Speakers will either be wall mounted or on stands. If placed on stands will be about 1 feet (to a max of 2 feet) behind the main/centered sofa. If I wall mount, I have a few more creative options, such as placing them up a higher (I have ten feet "vaulted" ceilings) and more in the corners of the room, so everyone in the room gets a more surround experience. However, I know that opens up another can of of worms, but from what I read I am confident the true play will balance it all out. If I wall mounted, my hypothesis is to get the Play 3's but then my brain says that's just my ego compensating. So I am c

Help with adding a volume control to a pair of speakers

Hello, I've moved into a house with some odd wiring for ceiling speakers and am looking to add a volume control to 1 set. Currently there are 2 4-wire lines coming into the media closet. 1 4-wire is powering speakers in 5 rooms, I'm assuming these are daisy chained or something. Each room of these speakers has an independent volume knob. The other 4-wire line is powering 2 speakers in an individual room with no volume knob. (I guess somehow the previous people used those speakers as part of their video system?? no idea) Anywho, I can connect the 2 4-wire lines just like this image https://www.sonos.com/graphics/rn/FAQ269/connect_amp-4_speakers.png and sound comes out of all speakers. Since there is no volume control in the single room, it is always the loudest. Even if I turn up the volume to the max in all other rooms, that one room is still noticably louder than the rest of the house. I went to my local bigbox and bought a volume knob control. It has L/R +/- inputs

Connect Preout voltage

Hi, I have some power amps here that don't have any volume control as such they were originally designed to be used with a dedicated pre-amp/DAC for volume control. Now I believe the Connect has volume control? I know the pre-out (RCA) voltage I require to achieve full volume from my amplifier. But I can't find what the expected output voltage is from the Connect at full volume when it is for example streaming from Spotify? I need to know that it is going to be capable of achieving a decent volume otherwise I will need to purchase an additional pre-out booster which introduces its own problems. Cheers, Luke

Headphones and SONOS

After reading a lot in the forum it has become clear to me that the priority of SONOS is not reproduction on headphones, but personally I would like to design a solution to listen to my music on headphones. Someone has tested the connect + amplifier solution? It makes sense to add a DAC? Someone has a different idea? (I like to use a non-wireless headphone) Thanks for your time, Albert

Connect Amp - Stream to other rooms

Hi, I'm planning to purchase a CONNECT:AMP to power some outside speakers, and I noticed it has audio INPUT. If I connect a device to this such as a CD player or turn table, can I then stream this input throughout the whole Sonos system (I have 3 different rooms connected) or only to the speakers connected to the amp? Sonos forced obsolescence

I had a perfectly fine system with my iMac library holding all my music, Sonos controller, Sonos Sub-Woofer, Sonos Connect, Sonos Boost running some nice outdoor speakers, Sonos Playbar for the TV.. you get the idea. Well, the rug was just yanked out from underneath. Controller on the Mac wouldn't work unless I downloaded and installed the software update. I did it. It didn't work. After a lot of checking come to find out the OS on my Mac is not supported and per Sonos it's because Apple won't support it anymore. That's really weak. I have hundreds of software on my Mac and I know if I upgrade the OS then I'll loose a lot of those. I live by the axiom 'If it isn't broke, don't fix it.' Apparently in Apple and Sonos' infinite wisdom it does need fixing even though it all worked fine. I'm sure they could have a stripped down version of what it used to be but really, why couldn't they at least allow me options? Lets see, choose to remain working as it is and forego support that I never us

Voltage select - 115V or 230V

I've just purchase a ZP120 and don't know which voltage setting to select. I live in the US (Washington). The label under the power connector reads 100-120V-/220-240V but the voltage select switch has 115 or 230 selections. Having seen several posts where the wrong choice was made and their unit was fried I want to make the correct choice for where I live. Thanks.

Not all Sonos equipment updated to 6.4.2 - How to update those that did not update?

Hi, I have a number of Sonos speakers in my house and a Sonos connect. When firmware 6.4.2 came out, the app asked if I wanted to update to the latest firmware to which I said yes. My problem is that my Playbar and my Connect unit are showing as firmware 6.4 and not 6.4.2. How do I update the Playbar and connect to 6.4.2? I've attached a screenshot of the version of each firmware as found in the "About My Sonos System" in the app. If I go into the App and choose "Online Updates"", it tells me my Sonos system is up to date. Any help anyone can provide is most appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Connect: Low Volume

Hi all, I am new to this forum and just received and set up my SONOS Connect to replace 10-year-old Squeezebox SB3 . Pretty easy setup with my existing audio system and ethernet /wifi system within 15 minutes. I have issue with low volume from Connect despite set the volume to maximum from SONOS apps/desktop, playing from both music library, Spotify and iphone music. Volume dial was set at 40 of Krell KAV 400Xi integrated amplifier. With same volume setting, my previous SB3 can play a louder music. Please note I am using Coaxial output (digital) to Cambridge Audio DacMagic then to Krell. Nevertheless, the sound produced from Connect and my current audio setup is much warmer, crystal clear than previous SB3, just the volume at Integrated Amp need to set higher. Not a big issue, just curious why... Please advise.

TV+Connect+Play1

Hi community, I need some Sonos wisdom please. I have a bunch of Play 1s across the house and a Connect hooked up to my surround system in the living room. I have a man cave with two Play 1s and a Sony Bravia Smart TV (Android). I just connected the Sonos Connect via optical cable to the telly as I thought I can stream the TV sound through the two Play 1s but shizzle, seems that's not going to work, any tips or tricks? PS: not keen to get a Play 5 or Soundbar which have physical line ins Thanks for your support in advance!
