I have a simple setup in a small room - Play 5 connected directly to a Teac TN-300 turntable (AT 95e cart and integrated pre-amp). I’m upgrading my turntable and don’t know whether it will make much difference to get a stand alone pre-amp. While I like the Play 5, this is certainly no audiophile setup, so I’m not sure I would realize enough benefit in sound quality going with a standalone to offset the convenience of an integrated pre-amp. Have any of you experimented with this?
Hey everyone. I am brand spanking new to using any Sonia components at all. My father has his entire home, including a hifi Klipsch based HT set up with a connect and THREE outdoor zones (maybe 9 zones total. He’s AALLLLL in!) connected so I am not new to using Sonos. Well, I’ve finally relented on my passion for only using wired hi-fi set ups exclusively. I would now like to use a Connect gen 2 that i will be buying from an eBay seller to save a bit since I’m also buying 2-3 Sonos Ones. MY QUESTION IS: Does a Connect gen 2 work with Sonos’s most current app/ecosystem??Will it work with the S2 app??
A Sonos port (along with a suitable 3rd party external amplifier) should be able to setup with a Sonos Arc/Beam/etc used in lieu of the seemingly ALWAYS backordered Amp for Surround Sound. If it has to be Ethernet connected to the Sonos system or LAN, that is fine.Along the same lines, would be nice to see a multi-room Port with 4 and/or 6 zones in a 2U chassis for Custom Integration. Each of the 4 or 6 zones would also be able to be commissioned in a Surround config.
Hello,I bought a Pro-Ject T1 BT that I connected with RCA → Jack cable to my Sonos Play:5 (connected in stereo).I use the “Line” Output from Project T1 turnable.everything is getting well, but the “power” of the sound is quite low. I need to tune between 75 and 100% of the max volume to hear something acceptable.Do I did something wrong ? (As it is a T1 BT, no switch between preamp or not because there are 2 x 2 output : “Line” or “Phono”)Many thanks in advance for your help and advises :)KRNicolas
I just upgraded to a sonos port and currently have it connected to my Onyko via rca to the CD input. I’m able to play sonos over my main ceiling speakers that are wired to the receiver. However, i cant get my outdoor wired speakers which are connected to Zone 2 (Note i’m using the wired connetion, not the zone 2 rca outputs). In setup, i set CD to the sonos port and choose analog. I set CD as the source for Zone 2 and i made sure main and zone 2 are both selected, but no music on zone 2. Any suggestions? I’m ordering a digital coax cable to see if that helps. Any suggestions?
Hi, New here so greetings! Quick question, I have been given a ZP90 and all of my other components are s2 compatible. I have created an s1 compatible network just for the zp90 but it is not showing as eligible for the upgrade program.Do I need to do something config wise to get it registered for the upgrade programme? Thanks.
Hi,I already did some research on matching amplifiers and speakers, but there’s a lot of contradicting information on the internet. I hope I can get a more conclusive answer here.I’m looking to buy a Sonos Amp, but I’m not sure if it will be compatible with my speakers. They are very old, from the 70s, KEF Concertos.I know the Amp has 125W/channel at 8 ohms. This is the information I found concerning my speakers:Nominal impedance: 8 ohms Rated max power: 50 watts programme Sensitivity: 9.5w into nominal 8 ohms produces 96db at one metre in anechoic conditions Amplifier requirements: 15-50 watts per channel into 8 ohmsAm I right if I say that the Amp is actually too powerful for my speakers, but it will work and won’t do harm as long as I don’t go past a certain volume percentage? Can I use the Sonos app to limit the volume to let’s say 40% to be sure? Thanks in advance for your help!
Sonos Port has been working fine. suddenly today it is not visible in the app. yesterday it was working well. My other speakers are connecting just fine. I tried rebooting by disconnecting and reconnecting the power. then tried a reset which initially looked successful. the port was reconnected briefly but would not play and then disappeared from the app. is there anything else to try?
Some Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray Players have two HDMI outputs. Use one HDMI output to send video to the TV. Use the second output to send audio to a reciever/amp Does the Sonos Amp work by plugging the HDMI audio directly into the Amp?The reason I want to do this is to use the blu-ray player as a music transport (CD, DVD-AUDIO, SACD, Blu-Ray Audio) with the TV off?I do not want to use via the TV Arc port. (Please note I am aware that there is a Toslink to HDMI adapter for this, but the sound quality is reduced.)
I’ve recently got a sonos amp for my living room that has 6 in-ceiling speakers at 8 ohm. Can the amp power all three pair of speakers? I know sonos says maximum 4 speakers i parallel, and 6 if it is the sonos architectural. But as I can see those have the same ohm as mine, and the impedance should become the same? Thanks!
I am very interested in purchasing a Brennan B2, however before committing I would like to ask those who have the knowledge on this forum will it work with older Sonos equipment?I have the following kit -3 x Play 3 speakers, 1 x Connect and a CR200 controller. I have the Sonos S1 app on a smartphone and PC.Many thanks
I’ve read through a similar thread that has since been closed and I don’t feel that it was thoroughly handled. We are diplomats that move every few years and it has been a bit of a challenge setting up our Sonos each time. We have purchased Sonos products in Canada, Europe, Uk and Japan and are now moving to Zimbabwe.Canada and Japan use the same power cable, Europe has their own and Zimbabwe and the UK use the same power cable. The trouble is, when you move to a country that doesn’t have Sonos support, you are left without functioning speakers. In theory, if you can get to a local Sonos dealer, you can order the appropriate power cable for your speaker and just swap it out (don’t need to worry about the voltage requirements). We did this for some of our N. American and European speakers. Now that I’m moving to Zim, I need the G type power cable used in the UK. I’ve contacted Sonos to see if I can order them and have them sent to my Japanese address before we leave as I think that will b
Hi, I was wondering what the best way would be to achieve this goal, I want to play my vinyl through the house, including my Tannoy speakers, I also want to stream from my nas to all speakers including my Tannoy speakers. The turntable has a pre amp and rca connections, the amp has no digital connections but does have a line in and line outThanksPhil
From Amp / Port to Arc: Can the Arc play music from analog devices connected to Sonos Amp or Sonos Port? I have a CD player and a turntable which I would like to listen to using the Arc. Is it possible to connect them to Port or Amp and stream the music to the Arc speakers or do I need to get an additional speakers? From Arc to Amp / Port: Can input from the TV going to Arc be streamed to Amp or Port and played over the wired speaker connected to them? Thanks!
I was able to connect my Denon turntable to my Sonos system using the Sonos Connect when I bought them back in 2015. I had an issue with the wi-fi that would interfere with the Connect. I have since moved and have tried to reconnect the same turntable to the same Sonos Connect without success. The turntable does show as being connected on Line-in but when I play it there is no sound. Have tried turning the TV on, tried turning the streaming service on, tried plugging into other ports but get nothing. Denon turntable has white and red audio cable that I have plugged into in-jack on Connect.any ideas?
