In ceiling SONOS speakers-surround.

I have moved into a new house that was prewired for ceiling speakers and have 4 holes(2 above sofa and 2 behind sofa).  I want to install sonos in ceiling speakers and connect to the Sonos Amp.  The TV is currently sitting on a sonos playbase.

I have a couple of questions

  1. Can I use the 4 in ceiling speakers connected to 1 amp as surround?  How do I connect if Amp will be in a basement below the room?(wires terminate there but playbase is in room)
