Question

Can a Connect:Amp power two pairs of speakers?

I have two pairs of speakers installed in the ceiling in my kitchen.  I would like to know whether these can be powered by a single Connect:Amp. The speakers are rated as 6 ohms. I would be grateful for any advice or guidance as I am looking to increase my Sonos set up as soon as possible!

I'm pretty sure it's two pair at 8ohm or one pair at 4ohm. Here's a reference... https://ask.sonos.com/sonos/topics/how_many_speakers_can_a_connect_amp_handle

Thanks for your help!

Thanks - I appreciate your help.  The link takes me to a page that shows me how I *can* connect two pairs of 8ohm speakers; and that I must *not* connect two pairs of 4ohm speakers.  I have two pairs of 6ohm speakers.  Can I connect them?

Hello Mark,

Unfortunately not, it will result on an impedance of 3 ohms and would damage your equipment on the long go.
I'm looking to connect 2 pairs of 8 ohm speakers to a CONNECT:AMP. However, i would like to be able to switch between each pair or have both pairs playing at once. Can I use something like the QED SS21? Would switching from one to both pairs of speakers during operation of the CONNET:AMP cause damage? i.e. the impedance dropping from 8 ohms to 4 ohms during playback.

I use an earlier version of that switch and have no issues switching between speakers, I don't typically do it at high volume however.
