Adding an IMAC controller

I just bought a pair of SONOS 1's and I set them up in stereo mode using an Android cell phone.
Set up went problems.

Now I want I want to control the system from my IMAC (OS X El Capitan 10.11.6)
I downloaded the SONOS software, but when I try to connect it to the speakers I get an error message
saying no SONOS products are recognized on this network. The IMAC is connected via wifi to the same router used
to initially setup the speakers.

Can anyone help me with this?

Presumably your PLAY:1s are in 'Standard Setup', i.e. using your WiFi.

Is the iMac using 5GHz WiFi? If so try moving it the 2.4GHz channel. Many routers won't forward broadcast traffic between wireless segments.
Thanks for the information, ratty.
How do I know which frequency my WiFi is using and how can I change it?
Do you have a dual-band router? What make/model is it? Out of the box, dual-band routers usually identify their two bands separately.
