With Smart TV’s using HDMI CEC along with HDMI ARC, we should be able to Display TV/Movie Cover Art in the Sonos TV Input page. This would be a great feature to ad at least as an option to turn on and off.
At least Apple TV’s can communicate this with iOS which should be able to relay it back to the Sonos app in some way.
Does CEC transmit the cover art while playing the movie? I’ve not recently read the CEC spec, but last time I did, I don’t recall that there was any mention about cover art.
CEC operates at the blazing speed of 417 bps (bits per second!!) It would take quite a while to transmit an image.
