Advice on buying a sonos 5 gen 1

So here is the situation. I have a beam and two sonos 3's in my living room. They are on S2. I really want to play my vinyl on sonos but can't afford to spend that much. Someone will sell me a play:5 (1st gen). If I get that, will I be able to plug my vinyl player into that speaker and it play through all my sonos speakers? I understand I might have to downgrade to S1 but from what I read that isn't that difficult or an issue. Any advice would be very welcome

Thanks

Yes, you can connect a turntable to a Play:5 (Gen 1) and play the music to your other S1 compatible speakers, but you will have to reset your speakers and move them back to an S1 system.

Have you considered a S2 compatible Zone Player? (verify the manufacture date to be sure)

No speaker function but cheaper than a new 5 and no need to drop back to S1.

Make sure the speaker works and has not been bricked - ideally, pay only once you see it do what you want it to.
