So the thread title has changed from "Recent Spam Attacks - We're on it".
The only visible change in the situation. ROFL.
Product development and customer services are quite different fiefdoms. If I ever suspected that the quality of software selection and maintenance displayed here was mirrored in the actual audio products I too would share your concerns. Thankfully that's never been the case.
Does maintaining this platform come under customer service? Perhaps that is then the reason for the continuing poor performance of the platform; I had thought that it would be a marketing led initiative for all that kind of potential it has for good and bad, and marketing and product development can often overlap.
Interesting thread on the TomTom forum, also powered by InSided.
The (then) new forum at TomTom wasn't exactly greeted with acclaim either:

https://en.discussions.tomtom.com/forum-feedback-468/bad-forum-973574
https://en.discussions.tomtom.com/forum-feedback-468/basic-navigation-973732

One would have hoped that the personalities involved would have learned from that experience?

Way back in the mists of time Sonos was sufficiently compact that I'd imagine Engineering had a strong say in the selection of the original forums software. They were quite probably the ones to staff it initially. With this platform the apparent emphasis on style at the expense of substance suggests that the marketing and branding folks could well have had the upper hand. It leaves the technical customer service folk in the middle having to struggle with what they've been given.

That is what I thought; and the same set could also be driving controller looks and features now, as well as product development. That was the source of my expressed concern, fuelled also by the recent playlist management issues caused by 6.4.
The spammers have moved to this side of the pond. Time to tweak that regex filter. No, wait...

ISTM that Sonos has been marketing led (i.e. form over function) since the change from 4.x to 5.x, so it's not too surprising to see them make the same choices when it comes to forum software.

wow - I get a huge sense deja-vu reading some of those comments. You could interchange 'TomTom' with Sonos in every post and the sentiment and concerns are pretty much identical.

The other similarity are the familiar attempts of the staff to appease the adverse comments with statements like "We have long list of improvements/issues we're working with the InSided folks to implement/fix. You should be seeing results shortly"

Sadly, as mirrored here in both the (lack of) new features 1 year on and the complete inability to deal with spam, it seems Insided are letting everybody down.

Just tried the forum for the first time today and again I am greeted with spam. Wow!
Fascinated by this tidbit from over a year ago on the Tom Tom forum:

'The forum provider has implemented a tool that will lessen spam significantly, and we already see positive results of that.'

Okay, it's not funny anymore.

What are you on about, there hasn't been any spam all night, still isn't any coming in now as far as recent topics is concerned.

It comes and goes as we check in and clear it out, has been pretty light tonight all things considered.
Nearly two pages of spam at the moment. A simple regex filter should be all that's needed to eliminate this menace, yet InSided still seems incapable of anything after nearly three weeks! Incredible. I hope any company considering switching to InSided sees this thread...

What about a captcha?
What about a captcha?
These are humans, not bots.
Its there but its only a checkbox. Supposedly they are live people doing it and not bots so a captcha wouldn't help.
And again,...Germany is under heavy attack since more than 2 hours! Around 180 pest entries!

Cleaned up that one.
I see you posted something Ryan because I got the notification email, but I can't get to the page to see what you wrote. Would be nice if the text of your message was in the email though. :D

interesting. Once I submitted this response from the first page I can now see the last page.

Just as a note, the button go to end of thread on mobile phone does not work. Go back to first page of thread. Can you forward to web community developers?
Thank you
