The charge that was applied on Monday night remains 'pending' status in my bank account. I called my bank to see if there was a problem and they said Sonos' bank in the Netherlands hasn't fully completed the transaction on their end yet.

The fine print on standard shipping says 1-2 days in Europe, excluding weekends, so hopefully that means it will ship today to hit the 10 June date. Crossing fingers.

My status order just went from “back ordered” to “processing”. My Apple Card popped up as just charged, looks like we’re getting our Sonos ARC any day now. 🙂

Is your order in USA ?

Yes, it is. 🙂

I’m not in the US, but that’s where my order’s been sat for the past week. Charged last Tuesday, still processing.

Not complaining or anything. It’s just that I keep checking my account habitually.

“Exclusive Preorder. Be the first to get the newest products.”

Cough.

Cough.

Lol, yes, it’s pure marketing speak, isn’t it?

Just received my shipping notice from FedEx .. I am in USA (California) .. ordered the 5.1.2 Entertainment Set with Arc & Sub G3 US (Black) on 5/6/20.  Shows that I should receive it on 6/10/20.  Keeping fingers crossed!

Ok but off topic and may be a stupid question but I’ll ask anyway when you do true play tuning do you have the phone screen facing you or away from you

It tells you when you run it. As I recall, you turn your phone around so the ‘mic’ is pointing away from you.

I spoke to a sales agent regarding my order and shipment -  he was assuring , firstly asked what date did I see when I did a e-commerce purchase and I said June 10th so he said in that case I should see a tracking details by 10th or latest by Friday . If not asked me to respond to ticket he opened and sent via email . So best case is I get it by end of this week and worst case end of next week .

Would an ARC be overkill for a 49” TV in a medium sized den?  It won’t be my main TV or theater area, but will be the only music source in the room.  Rest of house will also have Sonos products.

You mean an Arc? It would be substantially wider than the TV, I think, but would sound great.

Nothing wrong with checking your account, I do this all the time, especially with an expensive item like the ARC. Anyway, I just received an email from Sonos telling me that my item has been shipped. 🙂

Not in the least overkill. Back in the day when I owned a Sony “33” trinitron WEGA, I had a monster sound system set up in my bedroom. The sound made the TV look bigger. 🙂

For the ones using Apple TV with an LG with ARC port, this article is an interesting read and confirms what Ryan mentions about the betatesters getting Atmos via ARC from ATVs: https://hdguru.com/understanding-dolby-atmos-from-an-supporting-lg-tv/

Here the interesting paragraph:

So, while you can get an LG TV’s decoded Atmos signal to work carried in a DD+ soundtrack over ARC, you will have to decide if the clarity of sound from that compressed format is good enough for you. If it’s not, you are better off listening to the Ultra HD Blu-ray version with the Dolby Atmos or DTS:X content connected directly into a supporting AV receiver, which is then connected to the television via and HDMI output carrying the video information.

Looks like LG TVs decode uncompressed Atmos signals into a compressed DD+ stream that will be passed via ARC. That is good in theory.
Practically however I read in av/hifi forums of users facing lots of delay and lip syncing issues using this setup, to an extent that couldn‘t even be fixed with adjustments in the TV or AVR settings. Guess there is no way to find out for sure other than testing your individual setup.

Received my Arc this morning and can confirm that Atmos is running well and lip-sync (based on the few minutes I was able to test it) via ARC connection on my LG B7 playing Atmos content from Netflix and iTunes via Apple TV. Worked out of the box, didn’t even have to fiddle with the settings. I know many people were wondering, so wanted to share the good news for people with a similar setup.

I purchased the Playbar 5.1 setup back in 2013 when it was released and had an endless episode of trial and error with numerous optical splitters because my TV wouldn’t pass through 5.1 via optical. When reading the announcement I wondered if this would be the same with the Arc and its connectivity limitation, but thankfully this isn’t the case for me. Also glad that my 7 year old Play 3s as surrounds and Gen 2 Sub are still supported. For all the hate that Sonos is getting for phasing out products, I believe I was in a lucky spot using my gear for many years so far with very few issues.

On another note, the sound (both TV and Music) of the Arc is a significant update over the Playbar, much more room-filling and crystal-clear. Overall (apart from a scuff on the edge, for which I might request a replacement) I am again a very happy Sonos customer!

Got my shipping notification this morning!

I'm not sure if it's being sent via standard or express delivery ("free shipping" was the only option available when I ordered it, and I am certainly not going to complain about that!). Hopefully I should have it by Thursday at the latest, barring any COVID-related delays.

It's just good to know things are happening. Getting excited!

(UK based. Appears to ship from Netherlands.)

Yes the Arc.  You are right - the soundbar would be 1” wider on each side.  And  that is my dilemma.  I would go with the white one and it would be mounted on a white/wood accent wall, so I think it would blend in nicely.  My room size is 14X17 and the TV will be in one corner of the room.  I think the room maybe too big for a Beam.

Anyone have thoughts on the Ikea Sonos lamps?

I was thinking of pairing 2 of these lamps with the Arc to create a surround sound system in my living room. As the lamps would provide the rear audio in the system, and my living room is relatively small, I don't think i need powerful speakers. I like that the lamps serve 2 purposes and are decorative.

I also don't have a Sonos subwoofer and probably won't buy one until next year. Do you really need a subwoofer to get surround sound, or does it just enhance the effect? In my space I don't really see the benefit vs the price.

It would be nice if theres a area where we all can confirm if its compatible.

Anyway, I just came here to help a little bit:

My LG OLED TV from 2017 model: OLED65B7V  is working perfectly with Apple TV and Sonos Arc playing Dolby Atmos. Tried netflix, apple tv series ( See), and Disney plus. Everything working perfect.

Im in the UK

Apple TV is sending DOLBY ATMOS as Dolby Digital and the arc is recognising the signal.

Is the DOLBY ATMOS text displayed on your SONOS S2 app above the night mode button? (It would be great if the app showed the type of content/codec it is actually reproducing on that spot --not only for DOLBY ATMOS-- instead of having to go to “About my System” to get that details on the Audio In details)

You can do that. If you push settings then system and then about my system.

It would be, but when you consider all the different TV models available,  input devices, and streaming services, it becomes very difficult to map all that out.  Not to mention that everything can change with firmware updates these days.  It’s not something Sonos can really get too far into.  It something users can put together on their own, as has been done previously, but it’s never going to be complete and 100% reliable.

Hi Morten, yes, thanks, I know of that… but I’ve seen pictures like this one, where DOLBY ATMOS is displayed on the now playing screen and guess it would be a good addition for the app… (for all types of Audio In)

Hello there. Yes the dolby atmos is shown in thr screen. Which i found very helpful.

at first i was double checking everywhere. Incluiding in the area of the settings, bla bla bla.
Putting movies in 5.1 only. Others with atmos. Etc.

and yes. Everytime its an atmos. It will display in the main screen. Obviously when u go to the other settings area u will see it as well.

hope this is helpful.
