The new release for Mac OS X 10.11 named El Capitan is released and after thorough testing we've found no issues with the Sonos system or controllers. Feel free to upgrade with confidence and enjoy.

If you do see anything please let us know, we're happy to help.

The customer's desktop Mac had OS X 10.10 Yosemite before. The customer also has an iPhone with Sonos Controller on it. You think it could have been an update of Sonos Controller on iPhone that caused it?

If they ran an update on Sonos using that phone it would have updated all the players and the phone's controller, but it wouldn't have done anything to the computer controller. The next time they looked at the computer's Sonos software it should have a message on screen that it needs to update, with a button that says to update. Unless they've missed a lot of software updates, there shouldn't be any need to reconfigure the music library, or follow any other steps beyond updating the computer.

That all said, it's always a bit tricky to say what it is someone did on the computer before you get to take a look. I'm sure you have fun with that just about every day.

We try to make updates as seamless as possible, with clear steps and directions at every point. If you have any suggestions from things you see we'd be happy to take a look.
