Hi,

Spotted that the Echo Input is down to £15 due to Prime Day.

Does anyone have experience of linking this to a Play 3 in the absence of it having a line in?

Get the echo dot for $22 instead. A Sonos play:3 can be setup to play the the audio selections you make on an echo, using Alexa groups. You can't have the play:3 respond to you and answer questions like you could with a line in or bluetooth connection. Paying a bit more for a dot will give you Alexa's voice on the dot, which is really just fine, with Sonos playing your music.

Can't be done, you would need a Sonos with a line-in connection, and even then, the Sonos/Alexa implementation would not be ideal, as the Sonos doubling as an Echo speaker and an Alexa music destination would be less than ideal.

As stated above, get the Dot for $22.
