So, I had to change my router today and that’s where the problem started. I reset my Sonos One to the new router. It now won’t play amazon music (prime) It just says “hmmm, to do that enable the skill and ask me to discover devices. This should be really simple but clearly not. Any thoughts?
Bom dia. Me chamo Alan, e sou do Brasil.
Hi everyone. I need a brief summary of Sonos, Alexa e and Sonos+Alexa limitations. In a perfect world, I would like a system that can: play multiroom music thru vocal commands play local music (stored on a Synology NAS) thru vocal commands From what I’ve learned in these days there are the following limitations (if you can confirm this): you can’t put Sonos and Alexa speakers in the same group you can’t play local music (on a NAS) with Alexa. The only solution is Synology skill (not available for my NAS) or My media skill (but it does not support more than 1 speaker at a time and I can’t install it on my NAS since I can’t create a virtual machine) Sonos can play NAS-stored music, but only thru the app and not thru vocal commands Please tell me if there are other known limitations which are unlikely to be “fixed”. Also: if I have 2 passive ceiling speakers, attaching a Sonos Amp, can it be activated thru a Echo Dot wirelessly? Does Sonos Amp have any kind of stand by to reduce energy
I have setup my Amazon echo to work with Sonos using the Sonos skill. The services I have available are Apple Music and Amazon music. If I ask Echo to “play music by Abba in the Lounge” it plays the music through that zone player but it comes from Amazon Music rather than Apple Music. I’ve deleted Amazon Music service from the Sonos app and set up Apple Music as the default preferred music service in the Alexa app however it still plays from Amazon. “play music by abba in the Lounge” - comes from Amazon Music through the Sonos “play music by abba” - comes from Apple Music through the echo speaker “play music by abba in the Lounge on Apple Music” - comes from Apple Music through the Sonos Is there anyway to get this working so that the default with Sonos is Apple as it is when using the internal speaker. Otherwise I may swell just use the Sonos app and Alexa becomes redundant. It doesn’t appear to be possible to disable Amazon Music on the Alexa/Echo.
Hello, I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction, as finding a lot of conflicting information on this topic. I have 2x Play:1’s and a Play:3 and I have just bought a ONE with the voice service feature, and I have set it up with Amazon Alexa. I can control the ONE with Alexa without issues, but when I try to group the speakers and then control all speakers with Alexa, it doesn’t work; if I try to pause the music, it de-groups the ONE before pausing the music on that speak only. My question is, can I set up my speakers so I can control them all through Alexa, or do I need to purchase a third-party app such as SonoSequencer? Thanks in advance for you advice and help! Scott.
I’m sure I am not the first to find this, but I just spent an hour watching this video explaining how Alexa Multi Room Music works. They also explain how the hand off works to third party systems which don’t support Alexa MRM such as Sonos. If you like technical content, then enjoy… Alexa Multi-Room Music
Hi. My Beam is in the living area. I’m having one Logitech Harmony Hub in my bedroom through which I would like to control appliances there (mainly LG Tv and Bose soundbar). However now wherever I say “Alexa turn on TV”, she controls Living TV instead, which is actually Beam. Will I be able to change the default nature of Beam as a speaker instead of a TV?
It would be amazing if Sonos Speakers (the One and Beam) could act as full fledged Alexa Devices (Google too). Currently when going into the Amazon app and selecting an Alexa enabled Sonos device, the information and configurations menu is limited to: Audio Settings (Control Bass Level) Do Not Disturb (on or off) Communications (calling / messaging) Device Location (address) Time Zone Follow up Mode (on or off) Measurement Units (F/C, Mi/Km) Registered to: (Owner) About Normal Echo Devices also contain: Audio Level (Volume) Bluetooth Devices (obviously this can’t be added) Wi-Fi Network Stereo Pair / Subwoofer Echo Remote Alexa Gadgets Sounds (for alarms/notifications/start or end of request) FreeTime (for Kids) Wake Word (Echo, Alexa, Amazon, or Computer) Language Music Groups (stream music to multiple devices, sonos and alexa products do not play together) Is it possible to push this request to the Team? The main ones are Music Groups and Custom Wake Words. This i
The integration between Sonos and Amazon can sometimes throw up annoying, confusing and sometimes completely random issues. A very large proportion of these issues can be resolved by some very simple tasks. These have been documented across multiple posts and have remained fairly consistent since the functionality was released. However, some of my earlier posts are now obsolete due to changes within the navigation and terminology of both the Sonos and Alexa Apps. As a result, I have compiled an updated set of steps to help users resolve the most common issues. However, before we start please don’t get phased by the scale of the steps below, they are not all required! I have tried to list these with the most common and easiest solutions first building to a complete reset. But before we start, if you are experiencing issues with Alexa, then please check for any outages on this page first: Sonos Status If Alexa is not responding but has in the past, please ensure that the mic hasn’
After discussion with support, Sonos considers your location not on basis of where you purchased your product, nor your profile (as one would expect) but where you connect to Internet. This is very wrong given this is not clearly stated https://support.sonos.com/s/article/3505?language=en_US. This leads to unnecessary customer disappointment and product returns. Besides imagine that confusion should I live in Germany with Alexa working and then moving to Czechia and losing functionality. Change the way you locate products (to profile ideally) or at minimum make it clear how you decide country. BTW even local resellers promote Alexa support e.g. https://www.alza.cz/EN/sonos-beam-cerny-d5443330.htm?o=1 , https://www.amazon.de/Sonos-Soundbar-Sprachsteuerung-AirPlay-schwarz/dp/B07DLGXHW4/ref=sr_1_3?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=sonos+beam&qid=1577899822&sr=8-3 which because of the vague statement of country support cannot be clearly considered misleading.
Edit: Issue resolved with no audio even after Alexa says “Playing xxxxxx”. I had followed the steps here several times over, but I just tried once last time and it’s working now. If anyone else is having similar issues, keep trying. I think this new S2 stuff is buggy as hell. https://en.community.sonos.com/amazon-alexa-and-sonos-229102/resolving-the-majority-of-issues-with-alexa-on-sonos-6798039
I have a sonos playbase and two play 1s. I have an epson projector and an xbox 1. I have an optical cord connecting the xbox to the playbase. I got a fire stick for xmas. I bought an hdmi switcher so i could connect both firestick and xbox to projector. The sound works great for xbox, but when i switch to firestick the sound comes from projector not playbase. I have an amazon echo and have alexa connected to my sonos. I can play music on it but for some reason i cannot get the firestick to connect. Is there a wireless solution to this? Can i link sonos as the speakers for firestick?
If the above occurs; as the title suggests, the first thing to do is to “disable the affected skill and re-enable it” in the Alexa app.My incident involved Alexa saying that my ADT security system commands (arm/disarm) were not being initiated when in fact they were. Alexa would say “ADT is not responding please check the device’s network connection.”The visual indicator on the ADT panel would indicate that the command had been executed. To verify I purposely tripped the alarm to confirm even though Alexa indicated otherwise. To make Alexa respond correctly, I performed the step mentioned at the beginning of this post. I again tripped the alarm to verify. This tip (as a first step) may save you the frustration experienced if deleting and reinstalling the Alexa App and/or the app linked to the Alexa skill has been your go-to step in the past. We all know that deleting/re-installing apps is a PITA.
I have a Sonos One in my living room and a Echo Show 5 in my entryway. I also have a Ring Pro doorbell. When someone is at the door, I can say "Answer Deck Door" and the Echo Show will use the Ring skill to show the doorbell camera. I have the Sonos One configured as an Alexa device. The problem I have is that sometimes the Sonos One answers me instead of the Echo Show. There is no Ring skill for the Sonos, so it gives an error message. The Echo Show clearly hears me as well, because I get a blue bar at the bottom of the screen. The Echo Show and Sonos One negotiate and decide the Sonos One is closer, so it answers. Is there any way to make the Echo Show answer me or have the Sonos pass the question to the Echo Show?
Not sure if this is an Alexa issue or a problem with the Beam integration (which I know has some problems) I ask Alexa to set timers frequently: *Alexa, set a timer for 10 minutes* 90% of the time this works as expected. 10% of the time, nothing will happen. But it isn't because it doesn't hear me - there is just no audible response and when the timer ends that too is silent. I found this out because after the first time it "didn't hear me" I asked it again, which worked as expected. Then later I asked to check on how much remaining time, and she told me "you have two timers for X minutes". Now when one of these inaudible timers is created, I can confirm in the Alexa app and see it running. I can check the timer config and see it is tied to the correct device and set to a reasonable volume. And when it gets to 0, nothing audible happens. Two attached images. Image 1 shows three timers running. In this case the first two timers were not acknowledged and were created silently. Only the
I have had Sonos, Alexa, and Yonomi for a few years now. I would really like to create some yonomi routines that play a Sonos playlist or Sonos favourite. Is this possible? When creating a yonomi routine, i can choose the sonos speaker (one is a Sonos One), and it then shows a selection option for “Play Favorite’ and “Play Playlist” (and others) but i can’t select anything. It just says “Nothing found”.Solved: Removed devices from alexa (but not sure i got them all. Disabled Alexa Sonos skill. . Reenabled Sonos skill. Discover devices in Alexa ap (multiple times, after about ½ hour it actually found them again). Now yonomi is showing the list of playlists and favorites.
