So having a weird issue with my echo dot and sonos. it's been working fine, but now the music dips when i talk to alexa, however no commands are carried out, so for example play radio x uk in the kitchen, results in nothing happening at all. I have rebooted all components and the echo dot with no effect. any clues?
So we're all thrilled to finally have this connectivity between Sonos and Alexa. A question: when I ask Alexa to do a skill that requires playback (like "Alexa, play my Flash Briefing") can this playback happen through Sonos speakers? If so, how do activate this? Thanks!
now that Alexa public beta is here, can sonos be accessed / controlled remotely outside its wifi network range using the alexa app? only reason i want this is we have a multi room set up with 5 sonos zones in our vacation rental home and would like to be able to control remotely thx
Hello, I've been searching for a definitive answer to this for a long time, and I cannot find the information anywhere. I would like to connect my Fire TV audio to a Sonos system via wireless. Currently, I'm able to connect my audio from my Fire TV via Bluetooth to either a Bluetooth speaker or my Amazon Echo. What I would like to know is if the new Alexa integration will allow wireless audio to route from my Amazon Fire TV to a Sonos system. If so, does this require the new Sonos One? This is also relevant for any users who want to connect a Fire Stick directly to the back of a ceiling mounted (or otherwise remotely located) projector and can't route audio cables.
I fussed a while to get this to work... I only have one Sonos 'room' so I change the name to Sonos. This allows me to tell Alexa to play album XYZ on Sonos; Alexa reduce/increase volume on Sonos; Alexa play radio station XYZ on Sonos. hen the 'with Sonos' is left off, the results come out of the little speaker on the Echo: fine for the weather, time, shopping list, etc. It now works pretty well and seems more intuitive in terms of adding something to a shopping list, etc. (I moved my echo away from the Sonos speakers, close to the phone). It's definitely better than a direct line -in connection (to my Play 5). It will be even better when a local library of albums can be accessed. Much of the limitation (now) is the Echo itself. While these are very cool, the access to a particular album or music genre can be tricky. I like classical music and have found that if I ask Echo to play a given piece, I typically get the first track; whereas if I ask to Alexa to play Album, alb
Hello, Needing some help, My sonos play 3 is all connected upto Alexa and Sonos however, I cant control it via Alexa as it keeps saying my Sonos is Offline. Sonos is working fine via the Sonos App and I cant figure out how to get it to show online and work via Alexa - Any ideas?
Hey there, while im really happy to see that the alexa beta finally went live, im a bit concerned on the taken approach. I bought 5 echo dots about a year ago when I first read the Sonos/Alexa announcement. I knew the dots would have very poor sound quality compared to the bigger versions but it didn't really bother me, since I never intended to use them as speakers anyway. Its not just about the music - there are timers, alarms, todo-lists, calendars, audible and basically everything else that comes out of Alexa, that I want to hear through my quality speakers. I would be very happy for a solution that lets me connect one Alexa device to one specific Sonos speaker and routes all audio input through that speaker. There would be no need for additional Spotify/Audible integration because Alexa does all the work and Sonos just streams the audio. Yes, there would be a short delay compared to the native Alexa response but I wouldn't mind at all. Best regards, I90dl1
Hi all and hello. If this question is in the wrong place, apologies.. My Sonos account is up to date. My Elexa app recognizes all my devises. I can get music playing from all devices but not at the same time. Sometimes one track is playing from one speaker and another from another. I cannot seem to get Elexa to sync and get one track playing from all speakers simultaneously. is this something that will be sorted or am I doing something wrong?
I've been reading that Sonos dims (all) speakers when you make an Alexa command to an Echo Dot. However that isn't the case for me, so if I say "Alexa play Radio 6 in the kitchen" that's great and the radio comes on. However when the radio is on, saying "Alexa" isn't always successful, and when it is, the music doesn't dim at all. I've tried this with the radio being on, and also when using Sonos-app started Spotify music. In neither case does the music dim when I say "Alexa". Any thoughts? It basically means when the music is on, Alexa isn't really usable unless I stand right next to the Dot and bellow into it! :D
I have the 2nd generation play 5 which from what i understand has 2 small mics built it that are deactivated. I'm excited about the newly announced Alexa built Sonos One but what about the Play 5 (2nd gen)? It already has 2 mics built in so i thought play 5 was the perfect candidate for voice activation.
I setup the new alexa skill for sonos and alexa understands my commands correctly. I replys correctly, that the e.g. tunein program is played on a specific sonos device. However, the music just does not play. Also if I speak a command to stop playing music on a sonos device, it just does not stop it.
Right now it appears that if you don't specify a playback device the music will just play on my echo dot. I'd like to instead have it default to 'play in the living room' without having to specify a room. Is this possible? I can't find it. I only have one echo dot to try this out (waited a year haha) and I'd like to get one for each room I have a Sonos in and have each echo dot default to controling the Sonos room its in.
First of all this is not a request to support grouping sonos with sonos speakers for particular rooms, rather this is a request or an inquiry to find out if there are any plans (or rather that there should be plans) to support "grouping" of Alexa Echo Speakers with Sonos Speakers. In my opinion, if the desire is to be truely agnostic of AI (Alexa, Google Home, Siri, etc.) then supporting other speakers (third parties or by Amazon, Google, or Apple) in unison is a must. If i am sonos owner it is obvious i want to use more sonos products together because they are truly sound (no pun intended) and quality speakers, however if I want an AI in my house (alexa for instance) i want it to be supported everywhere even if i invested in an Alexa Echo Plus (for instance). If you only allow to have Alexa control sonos and all Echo Speakers or other third party speakers are blocked away then you are seriously limiting the user as they will not be able to benefit from let's say buying an E
