Current setup: Harmony Elite remote (and associated Hub), Sonos Connect, Yamaha RX-A760 A/V receiver amplifying (playing to) non-Sonos speakers & subwoofer, Amazon Echo, & other devices not related to this issue (ie. LG OLED65B6P TV, Samsung Blu-ray player, Apple TV 4K, Wink Hub 2, Philips Hue Hub 2, Orbi router, Rasberri Pi, Google Chromecast). On the Harmony Elite I have an activity named “Sonos”. I have another activity named “DirecTv Now”, and another named “Blu-ray”, etc. etc. I have the Harmony skill as well as the Sonos skill enabled in the Echo app. When I say “Alexa, turn on DirecTv Now”, Echo (Alexa) triggers the Harmony Elite and starts the “DirecTV Now” activity (LG TV: power on, LG TV: input HDMI 1, Yamaha A/V receiver: Power On, Yamaha A/V receiver: input HDMI 1 (Apple TV). The system is now ready to use the “DirecTv Now” activity on the Harmony remote (DirecTv Now app is provided from the Apple TV). If I then say “Alexa, volume up” the Harmony remote is again triggered
Please don't respond with links to ALEXA commands - we are beyond the introductory level here. It seems the answer is no. HOWEVER, there are work-arounds. Ive posted this question before. Im providing the link to get you guys up to speed. https://en.community.sonos.com/amazon-alexa-and-sonos-229102/can-sonos-beam-change-the-tv-s-hdmi-input-via-alexa-6822197/index1.html#post16326312 You'll notice the best answer is not an answer; just a link to ALEXA commands. So it seems that I came across the answer serendipitously, but I don't fully understand it yet. At first the TV would only turn on to the HDMI output associated with arc - the sonos beam input. I usually use the computer input... (HDMI 3)... It changed to HDMI input 2 on its own. How? Not sure... trying to figure it out, but wanted to put this out there as others are experiencing the same hick ups.
Ive bought a beam and i want to use Alexa on it. Changed the acount ftom Netherlands country to USA and to english(on the sonos.com/account) but my app stays in Dutch and in the app it says still not available. I also have downloaded the alexa app. Anyone have a step by step howto?
I have Alexa setup with my Playbar. "Alexa, play [band name] in the Living Room" results in music playing from Amazon Music, which is connected. I also have my Soundcloud account connected to my Sonos system. Is it possible to use Alexa to play music from SoundCloud on Sonos? I can't seem to construct the correct request or maybe it won't work? "Alexa, play my SoundCloud playlist [playlist name] in the Living Room" or "Alexa play my favorites from SoundCloud in the Living Room".
Hi. This is kind of a strange problem. My new Sonos One is seemingly turning itself on at random intervals every couple of days or so, however when I check the app, it says it was activated using Alexa. I have never actually set up or used the Echo functionality on either my One or Beam and I have checked to make sure. There are no other Echo/Alexa devices on the network. Does any one have any insight into this?
I have had a sonos one for a couple years and i have had 4 smart plugs working on alex through the alexa dot and my sonos one for months. The other day the alexa on my sonos one started not being able to find my smart plugs. Alexa on the sonos works fine for everything except for the smart plugs. The smart plugs still work on the dot and i can see them on the alexa app. The sonos app still has my alexa account. I have tried removing one of the smart plugs as a device and re-adding, i have tried removing alexa from the sonos, i have reset the sonos but still it keeps responding it cant see the device. I also have no duplicate names. Any help would be appreciated.
Wondering if anyone else noticed this or has any suggestions. On the Echos if you pause and resume an audio skill it resumes from where you paused. The Sonos one always starts from the beginning. Tried a few different skills and they all had the same behaviour.
Hi, I have tried the command to add the songs playing to my Spotify library on my Google Home and it worked like a charm, but unable to use that command on my Sonos One, can I request this to be added on Sonos, please? Or is there any command that can execute it that I didn't know about?
I have 2 Sonos One paired as stereo, a Beam and another One. All first generation. I’ve just bought a Sonos One Second Generation. Now on Alexa app I have a group called Home (I use Alexa just for music) and I see every room with an icon, and if I click on that icon there are Supermario’s Sonos one. In case of Beam, I have two different icon one for music and TV controller. But in case of One Second Generation, I have the icon for the room (Bedroom) and as separeted, another icon for Supermario’s Sonos One Second Generation. And I don’t understand how put this icon “under” the Bedroom icon, as for other rooms. Also on Preferred Speaker always Alexa app, I have all the room grouped, bedroom included, but in alternative I could tick another icon Supermario’s Sonos One Second Generation. I’m using Alexa app with iPhone IOS. I hope that I could have explained my issue, sorry I’m not english mother tongue.
This question may have already been answered, but I still going to ask. I do not have any Sonos devices, but I’m planning on getting 3 Sonos Ones. I currently have an Amazon Echo gen. 2. If I connect the Sonos One to the Alexa app, will it appear as if it’s an Amazon Echo speaker (not a 3rd party speaker)? If so, because the Amazon Echo has Bluetooth, will I be able to connect a Bluetooth audio device to it and have the sound play through one of the Sonos One speakers? It probably won’t be able to happen, but I’m just wondering. Thanks!
Was working for awhile, I made no changes, then suddenly when I would ask Alexa to turn on the tv I would get "I had trouble communicating with provider check your devices network connection and power supply." Alexa works fine with pandora and other issues. Its a 2018 Vizio E TV. I did a soft and hard reset on tv and have rebooted router. I disabled and renabled the Alexa Vizio skill and redide the TV alexa setup.
Hi all I've read various threads on this but not sure if a solution has been found yet? I have just installed a Sonos Beam with a Samsung Q9FN, really love it, sounds amazing and looks the part as well. They only thing i have found is that the only way i can tell Alexa to turn the tv off is to first switch to the HDMI input where the Sonos Beam is plugged into which kind of defeats the object. Current software version is showing as 1202. Is there a way to leave the tv on the VIrgin Box input and tell Alexa to turn the tv off and on? Any help would be greatly appreciated, if this can be sorted i will be a happy man :-)
We have 2 Sonos one units. On one of them when we ask Alex to open “Radio.com” she comes back and asks do you mean “alarm.com” on the second unit and a connected echo dot radio.com works fine. I’m confused as to whether it is an Alexa issue or a Sonos issue. Where it works on one but not the other I’m leaning towards it being a Sonos problem
Have a Beam with a TCL TV ARC input. Works flawlessly with voice- except when music is sent to the Beam. Then, it takes a number of "Alexa turn on the Living Room TV" tries to get it to respond (I also tried "Alexa switch to Living Room TV" as I read in another post- doesn't work). The Beam is not part of the Group that includes a Play 5 and two Ones in different rooms; it is on its own because of the music/ARC issue. Again, the Beam works great- except when it plays music. Would like to include it for music, but it's a hassle getting it back. Am I doing something wrong? Software is current.
OK, this is odd. I have been trying for a while to use my Beam to turn on and off my TV and Alexa always responds with a question about whether I want to turn off another device (that I do not even own) and then says that it can't find a device "Apartment TV". But if I go to my office and ask Alexa through my Echo Dot to turn the Apartment TV on or off, it works. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hi I have 2 Sonos 1’s(Alexa not enabled) and a beam connected to my echo show. Now according to everything I’m reading on the internet, both devices support Apple Music. The echo show will play Apple Music. In the Sonos app it says it takes Apple Music. When I tell my Alexa to play music in my living room via Apple Music, it says device not supported. Very confused can someone help??
Hello, so I have invested heavily in the smart home system. Recently i have been deployed overseas to Thailand to live here for 1 year. I bought the Sonos One speakers purely because I love the sound quality and I can control my smart home with them via Alexa. Now that I am here in Thailand, I apparently can't use Alexa like I should because of country restrictions. It is an extremely frustrating experience hearing that I can't control my smart home anymore. I really need this to be uplifted to allow myself to use my speakers for their intended purpose.
I'm not the first to broach this, but I'd like to throw it out there. I own two Sonos Beams, love them, but I use Alexa for both of them and about 1 in every 3 shows someone on the TV says something which triggers here wake word "Alexa"... usually it simply attenuates the volume for a few seconds, other times Alexa takes it seriously and says "sorry, I'm having problems understanding." I was trying to think of a way to solve this and the only thing that came up to me is as follows: update the Beam's firmware to have an option where it only waits for its wake-word when there is no audio coming out of the device. So, if this were the case, I would need to manually pause my show with my remote control (which I am happy to do), then I would be able to say "Alexa, volume 6" or "Alexa, what is the weather like right now?" I'd be OK with this solution because I typically have to scream "ALEXA!" when there is something playing anyway. I would make this an optional feature because perhaps th
[repost as last question was flagged answered when it wasn't resolved - plus added new info and corrected details] Hi guys. I'm tearing my hair out here, hope you can help. How can I get Alexa to use Australian radio stations not US radio stations? I have a Sonos Beam with Alexa running (with 2 x Play:1's for 5.0 surround sound). I have iHeartRadio enabled (and linked to my account on both Sonon and Alexa) and TuneIn enabled in Alexa but it doesn't seem I can configure it and it doesn't show in Sonos. I have tried setting my default radio app to iHeartRadio. I have set my address, and changed my default country in Amazon account to Australia. The stations play fine when I load them from the app manually, but Alexa cannot work out that I'm not in the United States. It also doesn't detect that the stations I'm asking for are actually in my favourites on the apps and the Sonos. Instead it plays a US station that matches (e.g. WSFM, KISS) or tells me that it can't find th
