Hi all, just got my new Sonos One. Never owned any Sonos product before. Loving the sound quality. Setup was pretty straightforward, including linking with Alexa. I understand full Spotify support (i.e. voice control to let's say ask for specific tune) is not yet available but I thought some commands such as 'skip track' or 'pause' should be already available. Also, every skills that involve streaming content (for example the news flash brief or TED talks) don't seem to be working. Alexa finds the content quickly and appropriately, but once the streaming of the content is supposed to start, it goes silent. I tried the usual basic troubleshooting but no joy. Is it related to the One specifically? any suggestions? thanks!
My new Sonos One with Alexa arrived today, what can I say other than I’m greatly disappointed. I can’t get Alexa to play anything off either my Spotify or Deezer accounts, I wanted to create a stereo pair with an existing play one..... it won’t do that either, apparently I can only do it with another Sonos One. So why would I want 2 speakers, both with Alexa in the same room. I’ve always held Sonos in high regard but I feel as if I’ve been conned into buying a product that doesn’t do what I was led to believe it would. Very disappointed ?
This is a serious question and I ask it for this reason. I have been collecting music for the last 40 years, so my library is pretty extensive. I cannot begin to remember a fraction of titles from my music collection without scrolling through the folders in my digital library. If then I'm using the Sonos app on my phone to scroll through the library, why would I need/want to use something like Alexa to play the tracks I select. Surely at this point it would be much easier to select the tracks and play them straight from the Sonos app. Perhaps I'm missing something?
After a bit of playing around, I managed to setup my new Sonos One to be part of both my current Sonos system as well as Alexa (I already have several Amazon Alexa devices). Much of the setup needs to be done in the Amazon Alexa App for things like TimeZone, Location, Metric Units etc. There are still a couple of things that it'd be good to see if it's possible to fix... 1) All the other Alexa-enabled devices have the same British accented voice. The Sonos One has a North American accent. Can this be changed ? 2) Asking Alexa to play things (and other requests) is noticeably slower on the Sonos One than my other Echo and Echo Dots. Is there a difference in how or where the speech is processed ?
Could anyone answer this, if you have the Sonos one can you ask it to play music on a play 5 for example, I have set up the Sonos skill in Alexa , I suppose my question does Alexa on Sonos one control only that Sonos one or can you ask it to play music on a different not Sonos one device Thanks Bruce
so now I have both echo dots playing through both my sonos - one in bedroom and one in kitchen - however when I ask Alexa - play rock music on bedroom - one song gets played then the music stops - when I say Alexa pause music - Alexa skip to next song - the volume goes down (ducking) then after a few seconds goes up again - it only plays one song :? and then stops? any idea what I am doing wrong on setup? thanks :?:?:?:?
Can you control Amazon Music songs that are playing via your Sonos system, in the Sonos app? I've got a Connect Amp which plays via ceiling speakers in my kitchen. This zone is named "Kitchen". I can ask Alexa to play Jack Johnson in the Kitchen, and she will play Jack Johnson music from Amazon Music, in the Kitchen zone. Great. However, I find the volume controls to not be so good via voice, so would rather open the app, and adjust the volume that way. However, my app defaults to "Garage" as the last zone its showing (as that's the last zone I was using I think). I click on that at the bottom, check "Kitchen", uncheck "Garage" (and on that screen it shows there is music playing in the Kitchen and its Jack Johnson via Amazon Music), but then when I hit DONE, it should show me the screen that has the music sliders, play button, next button, and at the bottom it shows the zone. It is still on Garage. But that's not the zone I'm trying to control. Long story short, I sim
I can't get Alexa to successfully play a playlist on Sonos. I have set up everything and can play songs on Sonos. However, beyond that, Alexa is not doing anything to control my Sonos configuration. It only plays the first song in the playlist. It can't play any local songs (in Sonos) - only songs that are either in Amazon Unlimited or in the Amazon music folders online. Once playing a song, Alexa will not let me control the Sonos playlist either. It keeps telling me that it can only do that if I am playing something in Sonos (which I am). I say "stop..." and it just keeps going.
I have two Play 5s paired as a stereo pair named "Lounge". All Sonos apps running on my Mac devices were upgraded to 8.1 this weekend. I received a new Echo Dot two days ago. I've set it up with both the Sonos and Spotify skills. I've also set Spotify as my default music library. Commands like "Alexa, play coffee table jazz" gets the immediate response "Playing coffee table jazz from Spotify", work perfectly and music will play from the Dot speaker. However "Alexa, play coffee table jazz in the lounge" gives response "I don't see the playlist coffee table jazz in your music library. If I change the command to "Alexa, play coffee table jazz from Spotify in the lounge" the response becomes "Spotify is not connected on this device"! Alternatively, "Alexa, play coffee table jazz from Spotify" does get the positive response "Playing coffee table jazz from Spotify" as before. Ergo, Spotify isn't the problem, and if I switch the source to TuneIn radio, that also works perfectly throug
I have got an Echo Dot and have successfully setup the the Sonos and Alexa devices. (They are showing as online in the 'Devices' in the Alexa App). I am able to ask Alexa to stop playing a station in a room and this works. However, if I ask Alexa to play a station in a room she repeats back that station and room to play in but then nothing actually happens. I've done this whilst watching the Sonos Controller on my laptop and can see the room kicking into life, it says "connecting...", but then it never actually connects to the station. I've tried disabling the skill and re-anabling it but I get the same issue I've been through the forum but not seen this reported by anybody else. Has anybody else had this problem? (I have two Play 1s (in separate rooms) and one Play 5). (Have submitted a diagnostic report too so will update if find a solution).
I updated my connect amp and activated alexa integration (echo dot in my case). Now, according to https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4158/~/amazon-alexa-and-sonos it is only able to play music (and of course spotify is not included) through the sonos device? So they spend more than a year to develop a skill that just allows it to play music but not let sonos work as a remote speaker?
I was very excited for the integration and decided to buy one of the echo dots, but have been throughly disappointed so far. The lack of ability to use all the premium services has been a big disappointment. The other major issue in my mind is that the volume for every Sonos device playing music gets reduced when someone talks to Alexa. This is not a good feature in my mind. My kids where having fun playing with Alexa (not trying to change anything through Sonos but I couldn't listen to any of my zones in the house because every 10 seconds the volume level would change. The kids had taken the device to their bedroom but it completely ruined the experience. If I could have figured out how to completely disconnect my speakers from Alexa at that point I would have.
I setup the new alexa skill for sonos and alexa understands my commands correctly. I replys correctly, that the e.g. tunein program is played on a specific sonos device. However, the music just does not play. Also if I speak a command to stop playing music on a sonos device, it just does not stop it.
It would appear that the development and availability of the Sonos One hardware has forced a premature release of laughably V8 buggy software, which clearly isn't fit for purpose. What happened to the Sonos USP we all bought into of 'it just works' ? After waiting for a nearly a year for this integration, the results are very disappointing. It struggles to understand voice commands, failing almost half the time with 'I don't understand' or 'something went wrong'. I reckon 60% success of a kind is typical, well under par. You can't control and play most music sources that Sonos support, including your own music library. You can't set up or control any groups of speakers. Add to that the revised IOS and Android App looks like a 12 year old designed it. No intuitive hierarchy and more presses to achieve the same as the old one. Classic example of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. It looks like Sonos is on for a repeat of the Version 5 debacle (this is V8). The diff
I had the Sonos skill added and it was working for the most part. Playing my Pandora on the each player via Alex voice control. and I could see in the Sonos app the art of the current playing song. I updated the players and although Alexa says it is playing the music in the right location/device, I don't hear any music and the Sonos App on the iphone does not show that it is playing anything. The iOS sonos app is also up to date. I use an Echo Dot.
Hi everyone, Hope you’re having a great weekend! I wish to buy 4 Sonos one’s on launch day but have a few questions: 1) Do I need existing amazon Alexa products for the Sonos one to work or is it completely stand alone? I have no interest in echo eg dot etc but still want full Alexa functionality in this Sonos one. 2) I have several other Sonos products eg speakers, play bar subwoofer etc, the question is regarding the bridge ie the Ethernet connected to my router. Do I need a new bridge for this Sonos or can work with existing bridge? How many Sonos can connect on 1 Bridge? The issue is I have run out of spare ports on my router! I have many other “connected Home” products eg Hive etc etc! 3) As existing and loyal Sonos customer, having spent thousands and potentially thousands more, will Sonos be offering discounts? I note the UK price is same as US price?! Last time I checked the GBP Sterling is worth more than US dollar? Thanks in advance, much appreciated
I have a Sonos PlayBase and 2 Sonos 1 speakers set up as a surround sound system and I have successfully used my Alexa Dot through my Sonos speakers. However, today I renamed my Sonos Group, told Alexa to forget the old Group and discovered the new Group. The new Group shows up on the Alexa app but when asked to play music through the new Group Alexa tells me it is off-line. It is not off-line as I am able to use the Sonos with all other applications. When I look at the Sonos device on the Alexa app I am told "oops something went wrong, please try again" Help please, how can I sort this?
