When will Alexa announcements be enabled for the Sonos One (gen2)? I currently need a separate Alexa routine for each of my 4 Sonos Ones to play a doorbell sound when my linked Ring Doorbell is pressed. I would much rather have one routine where Alexa announces that someone is at the door to all my devices.
Hi all , I've enabled Alexa on my beam gen 2 and wondered if enabling Alexa would stop the system going in to low power mode ?? Also how do I know if my beam is in low power mode because nothing states that it is ?? Also apart from controlling the volume I presume it's just Spotify and web radio that Alexa will control because it doesn't turn off my TV ..…Thanks
I have created a routine on Alexa. Alexa, “play cool music” Routine executes→ Play “Shuffle Playlist Cool Music on (Group Name)”In the routine, I do not have the ability to ‘play on group’ as it doesn't work. Also you only have the ability to select one device to play in the Smart Home choice in Alexa. I have a group called FRONT and I would like to play a playlist from Spotify on FRONT through Alexa. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
I’ve had my Sonos Ones almost 2 years and at last the mic problem has been fixed with the latest update. I now don’t have to repeat myself 2 or 3 times when I’m standing or sitting a few feet away from them, but they could hear me first time upstairs or in another room. Two years to fix this when many have complained about it.
OK basically Alexa wakes with random conversations not just similar sounding words like Alex. It literally can be anything for example 'I'd love a cup of tea'!! This was initially amusing but it happens several times a day.. I know it uses far field mics and all sorts of clever things and I've looked elsewhere online to find an answer but to date there is no answer. There appears through neither the Sonos app or Alexa app a way to reduce the mic sensitivity. One answer I found was to change the wake word but I think this was for an Echo and not built into a Sonos speaker as there are no options available to change this in app either. Solutions or advice please
Just subscribed to Apple Music Family. Daughter has a Play 1 in her room, and an Echo Dot. She has added her Apple Music profile to our Sonos account. But Alexa won’t play any of her playlists, it just picks something it things will suffice. It will play my playlists on her Sonos just fine, but not her playlists. Not sure what to do?
Please be aware - Amazon have changed the Group settings and “Preferred Speakers” are no more. Using an Alexa Device Group to get over the BBC dropping TuneIn problem can still work though. Create your Device Group and put your Sonos speaker(s) and the local Alexa device into it. Ensure the Sonos speaker(s) are set as the “Speakers” for the group.BE SURE TO SCROLL RIGHT DOWN THE SPEAKER LIST to find the “Playback Options”.Chose “Change” and select “Always” Job Done.
Alexa is working the sonos amp just fine. I can’t get the S2 app to see the Sonos amp any longer. Alexa is working with it. I have unplugged and rebooted. I can get S2 to work but then it gives me issues with Alexa. So confused obviously it’s on my network and working but the S2 app can’t find it any longer. Anyone experience this??? Looking to expand on my amp and get more, but this problem is making me rethink this direction.Help.
I have 10 Sonos speakers and 6 Amazon Echoes in various rooms. My main on e, in my living room, will playback a requested song on my Sonos system but none of the other Alexas will do so. I have tried everything I can think of to get them all to playback over Sonos but have come up empty. Anyone have a clue how to fix this, assuming it can happen? Help me obi-Wan, you’re my only hope…
Alex stopped working on all Sonos-Alexa enabled devices (1 x Beam & 2 x Sonos One). Re-adding Alexa after reset fails with "There was a problem adding Alexa"
Hi, About 10 days ago Alexa stopped working on all my Sonos-Alexa enabled devices:1 x Beam & 2 x Sonos Oneafter working flawlessly for about 2.5 years.I’ve spent the last 10 days trying various lengthy reset/re-setup sequences that I have found on line, including this one on the community forums: The devices re-appear in the Sonos S2 app, they also appear in the Alexa app after re-enabling the Sonos Skill but any attempt at re-adding the Alexa Voice Assistant to any of the 3 devices fails with the error "There was a problem adding Alexa" in the Sonos S2 App. I’ve gone around the reset/re-setup loop many times but its jus not working and there isn’t enough details provided in the App to let me troubleshoot it myself so I have generated a Support Diagnostics report and here is the Confirmation Number 743124758:If any one can advise or any support person can look in to the diagnostics and get back to me I would appreciate it. Regards Kt.
I have Sonos devices with Alexa setup in 3 rooms. In 4th room, I have a Beam that WAS setup with Alexa, but I removed Alexa from it to try to solve this problem: while watching tv using the Beam, if someone speaks to Alexa in another room, the Beam mutes momentarily. I’ve 1) disabled Alexa (in the Sonos app) on the Beam, and left it off. 2) disabled Alexa on all devices in the Sonos app, turned back on for all but the Beam. 3) disabled Sonos skill in Alexa, then reenabled. Help!
HelloI have read other conversations on the topic but they are all quite old and I would like to have an update on this issue. I bought my Sonos One, one week ago and I’m very disappointed with the quality of the microphone, I thought I was buying one of the best smart speakers on the market but it doesn’t look like this one is it. Using the voice control is so annoying that I would have done better buying a normal speaker instead. Can someone from Sonos help out with this issue or if someone from the community knows how to fix it, I would appreciate your help. ThanksLuigi
Alexa announcements generated from Alexa routines does not work on my Sonos One (2nd Gen). Although, it does work from voice activated commands. This was a previous tropic, but that topic was closed, and no resolutions were provided. So, I’m re-opening this issue and, hopefully, Sonos will respond and resolve.
Hi all,First post on the forum and relatively new to the Sonos ecosystem.I’m currently in the process of converting an outbuilding into a games room. I’m deeply entrenched in the Amazon Echo / Alexa ecosystem, and have the devices throughout the house.I’m planning on mounting a Sonos One SL in each of the four corners of the outbuilding, and using an Amazon Echo device to play audio through them - mainly Spotify.Am I correct in believing that I’ll be able to stream music to all four Sonos One SLs simultaneously via an Amazon Echo device?
I cannot request Alexa to start /stop a music service from iheart radio. I can manually select it from my phone. All other voice controls work. Eg timers, volume up / down and questions.I have reinstalled voice control several times with no fix.Any help work be greatly appreciated Leigh
In my living room I have both my TV, with a Beam for sound, and my hi-fi (turntable, amplifier, passive speakers). I’m looking at getting a Port or Connect for my hi-fi to both stream music to the system from Spotify and also to integrate the turntable into my multiroom system.I want all music to go through the Port/hi-fi, and all TV to go through the Beam. So my understanding is that I would just create two ‘rooms’ - one for TV and one for Music? What I’m unsure about though is the Alexa integration. The Port obviously doesn’t have Alexa integration and the Beam does. I can connect an Echo device to the Port, but having two voice devices in the same room could be annoying. So, is there a way of setting things up so that if I ask Alexa through the Beam to play music, it plays on the hi-fi instead? Or would I need to disable Alexa on the Beam and connect an Echo device to the Port, and use that for all voice-control in this room? Or something else?!
When is this issue going to be addressed? There are topics about the same issue going back over 2 years and nothing has been done to remedy the issue on Sonos’s part. Enough of the same ole response of “we are hoping that when the next update comes out that it will help remedy these issues”, yet nothing ever happens! We are tired of the same old same old. Customers have paid you good money for your equipment now step up and do the right thing in return! “FIX YOUR ISSUES NOW!” “IT IS REDICULOUS THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ALLOW TO CONTINUE FOR THIS LONG!”
PART 1: I have a Show 5 and Sonos One in my kitchen. I want the Show to be my Alexa device, but would like the One to be my speaker for music in the Kitchen. When playing music, I don't want to have to specify “kitchen” in my commands. I created a group called Kitchen, and added the Show and Sonos One to that group. The Sonos One is set as the speaker for this group the playback option is set to “Always.” Question… Did I set this up right? Should I turn the mic off on the Sonos One? If yes, is there a way to disable the mic so someone (i.e. one of my kids) doesn't press the button and turn on the One’s mic by mistake? PART 2: I have a Sonos Beam in the living room, which is next to the kitchen. It is connected to my TV via HDMI. Sometimes I want to be able to play the same music through both the Sonos One and the Beam. I created a group called Living Room, and then grouped Kitchen and Living Room into a group called Downstairs. Question… Sometimes, when I'm in the kitchen and talking t
