When using Alexa with Apple Music I’m randomly experiencing songs in either albums or playlists either getting entirely skipped or stopping partway through the track. If I look in the iOS app I see an “Unable to play ‘[track name]’ - it is encoded using an unsupported digital rights management system” error being displayed. This never happens if I initiate the same music through the Sonos app or through the iOS Music app (via AirPlay). It plays completely reliable then. I hate using an app to initiate music—Alexa is much easier, but it’s become unreliable enough that I’m starting to not trust it. Sometimes I can make the behavior go away for a few weeks or a couple months by powering down and then restarting my entire Sonos system, my WiFi router, and my cable mobile. But it’s infuriating to have to do this, and the problem eventually starts again. Does anyone have any insight here?
Hi,My sonos system comprises of two Symfonisks as a stereo pair, a play 3, play 1 and two play 5s. The Symfonisks were in a kitchen group with the dot and were set as the default player for that room. When I asked alexa to play some music it would say “playing x on amazon music on sonos” and then play the music on the stereo pair. I could also ask Alexa to play music on one of the other players. I started getting issues where Alexa would say “playing x on amazon music on sonos” but nothing would happen. I`ve deleted all the sonos devices (and rooms I had set up) from the Alexa app and disabled the skill. Then forced closed both the sonos app and the alexa app. The first peculiarity is when I enable the sonos app again and link it is that Alex discovers the players and adds them plus creates groups for each of the players. Has it always done that? However, I cannot seem to get back to the point where I can create a kitchen group and have my stereo pair as the default speakers. I
Hello,For some reason, my Sonos One is not allowing me to add Alexa to it. I receive an error that just says “cannot add Alexa” with the options to “Try Again” or “Not now.” My setup is that I have a Sonos One and a Boost. Here is the Diagnostic Report #734391564Also, not sure why this is the case, but I keep renaming my Sonos to “Living Room” and after a day, the system names it back to “Office.” It’s very strange. Thanks for any help on this!
Evening alli have tried and tried to reconnect my Sonos play 1, downloaded new app, pressed talk buttons I have been asked again and again. very frustrating!!! my play one had Alexa which I have never been able to get to work properly, when working brilliant speaker. how can I reconnect, I haven’t put cable direct to router yet help needed please thanks
I’ve been trying to get that both speakers (Echo dot and Sonos roam) sound in the same room, thought no success. The Amazon Alexa app says is not compatible both speakers. Is there a good trick or tip or guide to get both sounding in the same room? The thing is that before I bought the Sonos roam, I used to play music in a shelf speaker (audioengine A5+) connected to the 3.5 mm mini plug in the echo dot. The room where I want to pair both speakers (echo dot and roam) is quite big and my idea is to to complement the other side of the room with the Sonos Roam.
Just updated the system with a roam and a couple of Move's. Simple question really. I'm Using Alexa on all of my speakers, and is there a way (or a command) where she will play what I'm listening to in another room as well. For example, been using the roam in the bathroom and then want to carry on listening to where I'm at on the playlist in the bedroom, leaving the roam in the bathroom. I know I could hold down the play/pause in the bedroom before I get in (or out) of the bath, I just wondered if there was a command I could give that would then add another room to the song playing? Cheers
I have lost Alexa on my Play One. I have factory reset the speaker and reconnected it. I’ve also done everything under in the Sonos support topic about deregistrating and reregistrating an Alexa device. When completing the setup, I can hear Alexa confirm setup with, “Hello!”. However, the mic led will not turn on. There is a tone each time I turn the mic on and off but it will not respond to any commands. Everything looks fine, just no mic LED or response.Your diagnostic confirmation number is: 1384143241. What’s the next step, Sonos? Thanks- John
Hi all , I've enabled Alexa on my beam gen 2 and wondered if enabling Alexa would stop the system going in to low power mode ?? Also how do I know if my beam is in low power mode because nothing states that it is ?? Also apart from controlling the volume I presume it's just Spotify and web radio that Alexa will control because it doesn't turn off my TV ..…Thanks
Up until about a week ago I’d speak 'Alexa, turn the volume up', Alexa would immediately duck, chime, respond "OK" and after only one-more-ducked-second Spotify would resume at a higher volume.Now.. after responding "OK" Alexa will remain ducked for another 7 seconds before resuming at higher volume. It’s really annoying. A total vibe killer. It’s happening on 2/3 of my setups: on my Roam, and a set of paired ones. Another pair of ones that are rears to a playbase seem to be working fine. Things I've tried: Follow up mode is turned off Wifi signal is strong (and set to channel 11) I’ve unlinked Spotify & Alexa (multiple times) I’ve Hard Reset the Ones any tips? thank you!
I have created a routine on Alexa. Alexa, “play cool music” Routine executes→ Play “Shuffle Playlist Cool Music on (Group Name)”In the routine, I do not have the ability to ‘play on group’ as it doesn't work. Also you only have the ability to select one device to play in the Smart Home choice in Alexa. I have a group called FRONT and I would like to play a playlist from Spotify on FRONT through Alexa. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
Any help on this would be appreciated. My system is all linked & I am able to use my Amazon Echo Dot/Sonos Move to start music playing via Spotify. However this only seems to work on one speaker at a time?I have Spotify premium and I am able to play from both speakers when using the Sonos app. It would be great to be able to use Alexa to control both.Error message displayed below:
Is there a command for my Echo Dot that will mute whatever is playing (for example) 5 minutes? At the end of the 5 minutes, I would like the Dot to continue to play automatically. I have tried all types of commands and the Dot will mute but never comes back on unless I command “Play” Thanks
Hello I am brand new to Sonos (longtime Bose guy) I am setting up my Sonos 5 and am struggling to get Alexa assigned to the speaker. I’ve gone through the prompts of enabling the skill and finding the speaker but then nothing happens from there. I go back to the Sonos App and nothing happens. help!
Find this a very unreliable system. Keeps breaking its connection with Alexa. I reset it works for a time and then loses connection. No problem with my broadband. Also ARC connection to LG TV stops working frequently despite trying 2 HDMI cables and checking connection. Sound is reasonable but wish I hadn't bought due to unreliability
HelloI have read other conversations on the topic but they are all quite old and I would like to have an update on this issue. I bought my Sonos One, one week ago and I’m very disappointed with the quality of the microphone, I thought I was buying one of the best smart speakers on the market but it doesn’t look like this one is it. Using the voice control is so annoying that I would have done better buying a normal speaker instead. Can someone from Sonos help out with this issue or if someone from the community knows how to fix it, I would appreciate your help. ThanksLuigi
Hii recently buy Arc and need to setup the Alexa, in Sonos App S2 I can not find any voice services listed in the service section, I tried to setup disable the skill and deregister from Amazon but again not showing any voice service in Sonos App ?! please help
Several years ago, I read on the forum that if you started streaming Deezer using a voice command from an Alexa device (button), the Deezer stream would not be FLAC. I paste the response from that thread below:“Alexa will play Deezer in 320 kbps AAC/MP3 formats, not FLAC. This doesn't change based on account type. A stream started using the Sonos app will be at the higher quality formats which you can then change to the next queued track, or skip songs using Alexa. Along with the other Alexa standard controls.”However, someone from SONOS customer support most recently told me in phone call that this was not true.I am unsure who to believe. Can anyone clarify? Thanks.
Hi, is there any other way to control local music library with Alexa than installing MyMedia app to computer? MyMedia works great otherwise, but downside is that computer must be running with MyMedia server app. It would be great if Alexa could control local music library without any third party application! Just like it control eg. Spotify or any web-based music service now. If there is no other way, I address this message to Sonos developers. Maybe in future we can see this feature on Sonos and Alexa!
I have sonos all over my house and Alexa does not have a service in Greece. If i buy a product like Echo Dot will i be able to give voice command to Sonos and play my music from APPLE MUSIC and not Amazon music? is there another product i can buy so i can give voice commands to sonos in Greece and play my APPLE music??? Thank you in advance!
Hi I'm having difficulty with a sonos one and a connect amp. I have ceiling speakers fed by a connect amp and I want to add a sonos one for voice control. I want to be have them both function as one so that I can say ‘alexa play whatever’ and it will be output by both the one and the ceiling speakers. Can anyone advise how to set it up please? Many thanks.
I have the sonos move, and every time I travel with it (now 3 separate trips, 3 destinations) the alexa voice control doesn’t work for music. Commands which work at home that do not work while travelling:alexa stop alexa play alexa pause alexa play xxx song from apple music alexa play xxx song from spotifyThe “play music” commands report that they work, but the music never actually plays.Interestingly, volume up / volume down / set volume commands work. So do other alexa functions, asking questions, setting timers, and so on.
