I can't get speaker to respond to wake word

Hi, I have two pairs of sonos one speakers, and until recently they were working fine with alexa. However, now I have to hold the microphone button down, speak my command, then release the button. This is far from ideal, because i have smart lighting in the same room as my speakers. What I need is for the speakers to respond to the wake word 'Alexa'.

I had this problem before and it was solved by turning voice control on, in one of the settings submenus. But I can no longer find this submenu.

I couldn't find a topic that answered this question, so now I am asking the community myself.

Yes,it was as simple as tapping the button quickly rather than pressing it slowly.

Hope this helps anybody with the same problem.

Thanks very much for the help.

It sounds like you’re mic is off.   If the LED below the mic icon on the top of the unit is not lit, the mic is off.  Press/tap the mic icon to turn in on, and the light should come on.  Is Alexa working now?
