Alexa preferred speakers not working on routines after latest update June 2020

I updated Sonos to the latest controller and now my alexa routine to play the radio on sonos has stopped working. The radio is just played on Alexa, not sonos. I have checked that the speakers are still set to preferred and disabled and re-enabled the skill. Still not working.

i also have to tell alexa specifically to play “on sonos” now whereas before the update it automatically played on the preferred speaker without having to say it

This is really irritating, as it was all working perfectly before the update.

I found a solution in another post, you need to add “on Sonos” or “on [speaker name]” - I dont know why this is now required, but it works!

i tasted it by following the instructions below:

1 Open the Alexa App and click on the menu 3 bars in the top;
2 Select Routines in the Menu;
3 Click the ‘+’ sign in the top right corner of the App;
4 Click ‘When this happens’ and then ‘Voice’;
5 Enter ‘audio test’ – it’s still best to not use capitals;
6 Click ‘Add action’ and then click ‘Play’;
7 Type in ‘Ed Sheeran On [Sonos Room Name]’;
8 Click ‘From’ and then select a source;
9 If you need a ‘Timer’ please click ‘Set Time’;
10 Click ‘Save’
