Hi, we just purchased 2 Play 1 Speakers and have followed all the instructions for set up, dowloaded player on iphone and lap top. When we try to add stations, we keep getting the 1101 error, unable to upadate. We have broadband with wifi and are not using ethernet. We have tried the suggested fix of re starting everything and it doesn't work. We are so diappointed it has to be this hard and I'm about ready to just return these speakers! Any suggestions out there would be so much appreciated. No C.S. until monday, at which time we will call. From what I gather, this is not an uncommon problem. :(
Here is the situation. I have 2 Connect:Amps and 1 Connect. All are physically located in my living room. The amps drive built in speakers in my master bedroom and rooftop. The connect powers living room speakers (through receiver). My primary router (Google OnHub) is also in the living room. Everything works great when I (and my iPhone) are physically in the living room. However, my Wi-Fi was very weak in the bedroom (furthest location from the router) so I bought another OnHub router, put it in bridge mode, and plugged it into my home Ethernet network. All Wi-Fi enabled devices work fine and easily switch between routers, HOWEVER if I'm in my bedroom and my phone is connected to the bridged router, the Sonos app cannot connect to my wireless network (even tho my phone is on my Wi-Fi network). Is there anything I can do to my networked routers or Sonos to fix this? Do I need to buy new equipment to ensure that Wi-Fi and Sonos is usable from all corners of my house? Thanks
I've used InSSIder to look at wireless signals near me and it only detects a SonosNet signal if the Sonos controller (CR100) is on. When the controller goes to sleep the SonosNet signal disappears off InSSIDer despite music still being played. Why doesn't InSSIDer pick up the SonosNet signal ? Is there another wifi detector that would see it ? Would something like Wi-Spy see it ?
My iOS apps (iPhone and iPad) prompt me to update my Sonos app about once per day. However, when I proceed with the update I get a message that no update is available. This seemed to start happening after I joined the beta program, although I can't be certain there is a correlation. Has anyone seen this issue?
Do I understand this correctly (?): Sound Bars: The concept of “sound bars” is that they offer an alternative to traditional Stereo Surround sound. The traditional surround sound system has a front center speaker, a front L and R speaker, along with rear L and R, along with a subwoofer. The sound bar system concept is different, however, as the sound bar contains the front left, right and center speakers, and can be supplemented with separate rear speakers and sub woofer. However, the rear L and R speakers really “are not” like the L and R speakers of a traditional surround sound system, because they do not separate left and right for stereo affect, they only function to enhance or more so engulf listener with the music or sounds. Said another way, the surround L and R of sonos system is only produced by the front sound bar and there would be no sensation of music or sounds being separated for an effect, such as, the rumble of tank treds coming from a rear speaker and moving towa
I have a stereo pair of 1s in the same room as my TV. The TV has a play bar, but I do not utilize the 1s as surrounds. They are independent of the playbar and I intend to keep this set up. If I add a sub to the playbar is it possible to connect the 1s to the sub too for when listening to music?
Ive searched the community for this, but no luck. If I tap the volume button on one of my devices, I'd like the option to change the volume of the entire room at once, not just that specific device. Does this exist and I'm missing it or is there another way? ie. I can change the group volume via the app, but I'd like to change the group volume via the device. Thanks!
Since a while the Sonos App (6.4.8) on my Android Phone (6.0.1) the app starts and looks like to work, but when I want to select a room, nother appears. And in the screen where you must select a room the text "Hello +1" (see attachment) is shown. I have alread removed and re-installed the app, but the problem is still available. Does someone have a suggestion? Thanks!
My sonos system is very temperamental. I have two sonos play1 speakers in different rooms in my flat. They are on the same for as the router about 6 metres apart. The router is in the same room as one of the speakers. Our internet isn't amazing but is fine - it's a sky router. I mostly use Spotify for playback. I constantly have problems adding songs to the queue and even when I do I often get jumping tracks, cutting out, or no playback at all. When grouped sometimes just one plays. Does anyone have any suggestions? At the moment I feel like the speakers are a waste of money as we don't try and listen to music as much as we would otherwise because when we do it mostly doesn't work. Please help!
I just installed a Netgear GS716T switch today, in the middle of my network. The default settings for the switch have it blocking STP BPDU packets. This caused a network storm, as Sonos units behind the switch were not getting the BPDU's from the switch. Turning on BPDU flooding fixes the issue. I then turned on the switches STP. Same issue. It turns out that you have to enable STP for the switch, and enable it on each port, or at least each port that can cause a loop (the sonos connections, and connections to other switches). Its working fine now that things are properly configured. Just posted this as a heads up.
Last night got a message to say unable to stream from Tidal. Tried to delete the account and then reload. After deleting I now can't find Tidal anywhere on the Sonos system including in the Beta program section, so unable to reload my account. Anyone else having problems with Tidal?
I want to play my audiobooks from the library. They play from the Overdrive app in MP3 format. I read that MP3 formatted audiobooks can be played but there's nothing about how. There's no section in the Sonos app. Separately, is this honestly a speaker that works from only one app that doesn't accept all your content?
Hey Kids! I'm running an Audio Technica turntable direct into a Play 5, which then flows to a PlayBar, and two Play 1s. For some reason, the Play 1s cut out intermittently, but only when using the line in/vinyl. Streaming services don't have this issue. I initially thought it was a distance thing, but since streaming works fine, that doesn't make sense (troubleshooting!). The RCA to 1/8 cable is high quality, as are the F to F couplers. Endlessly frustrating and making my ears weird out :) Thoughts? Is there a setting I can click to avoid this? Thanks SO much!
