sonos and electricity

I bought one sonos five (as they didn't have a second one due to holidays and being sold out everywhere) and i was blown away !

I ended up buying a second one 3 days later and created a stereo pair. They're amazing!

Now, i know nothing about electricity in terms of numbers but I live in the USA and with this stereo pair, at about 75% volume, it makes my ceiling lights start flickering when the bass hits. They are plugged into the same wall outlet (the only 2 plugs close to where I need it).

Do you think the pair pulls in too much electricity for the 2 sockets or even for the breaker itself? Any recommendations ? Should I use a surge protector?

Mine don’t impact the lights but if you have too-small wiring it could be a power issue. It might also be a loose wire that the low frequencies are wiggling.

Grab an extension cord and plug it in across the house so it is on a different breaker, plug the 5s into it and crank it up. If you still get flickers you are likely looking at a loose wire. Get it fixed, that kind of problem can easily lead to a fire as the wires spark and get hot.

Compared with domestic appliances, Sonos speakers make low power demands.  Follow @Stanley_4 ‘s advice.
