PLAYBASE via an Amplifier

Can PLAYBASE be connected to the Optical Output of an amplifier instead of a TV? My TV is connected to the AMP via HDMI and uses the speakers connected to that amp. These speakers are not real good and it seems this could be a good solution if it would work.

Hi. Doesn't sound a good idea to me. The Playbase is an amplified speaker, intended to replace an AV receiver and speakers. If existing speakers aren't much good, get rid of them. If you want surround sound then get a pair of Play:1s to go with the Playbase.
