Pioneer UDP-LX500 DTS Re-Encode to Dolby Digital

Does anyone know if 4K Blu-Ray Player Pioneer UDP-LX500 will re-encode DTS into Dolby Digital? I have tried like 4 different players and none of them do. I've had LG, Sony, and 2 different Panasonics. It seems that the Samsung Player do actually re-encode but they don't have Dolby Vision and Dolby Vision is a must. I have a 77in LG OLED C9 which has Dolby Vision and is able to decode Dolby Digital, now I just need 4K Player that plays nice with Sonos.

No, that Pioneer will not re-encode to DD 5.1.

Oppo players will re-encode to DD 5.1, but only over the optical output.

FYI, good luck finding an Oppo as they are no longer in production.  If you are looking for the best 4K picture (IMO); as long as you don’t need SACD or DVD audio playback, check out the Panasonic DP UB9000. BTW it doesn’t re-encode either.

I have a 2019 OLED LG C9 65 inch. Wife wouldn’t let me buy the larger model. I’m envious. Send me a private email and I’ll let you in on a secret...mums the word :no_mouth:
