I have a place with an open kitchen. In the main area i have 2 sonos five and a sonos move grouped on an S2 system. In the open kitchen i want to connect my old play 5 gen 1 to play synchronized with the rest. I mainly use streaming audio via airplay. Downgrading the rest to S1 seems like restricting the available options, S1 doesn’t find the new fives, nor the Move. So the play 5 is not in the same system and thus not groupable with the S2 system. Is there any possibility to get this play 5 gen 1 with the rest? If necessary i can connect them with an aux cable, but i dont know if the Five has an aux out or aux in ….
I recently bought and extra OneSL to stereo pair with my exisiting One. I also have a Play:5 2nd generation. I’ve put them all on the same bookshelf, with the Play 5 in the middle and the Ones off to both sides. It sounds pretty awesome. Question: Should I adjust the equalizer to increase bass output on the Play5 and increase treble on the ones? Would this make much difference? Would the Play 5 actually provide more bass by doing this? I’ve played around with it, and so far it seems dependent on the music as to which sounds better.
Hi Sonos, my Sub G1, one of the non-glare versions, does show up in my system as ZP100 which is clearly wrong. So my S2 App says it’s incompatible (grouped with ARC + 2 Play:3 as rear). Diagnostic info 1961414442Also my Windows App does not work anymore (says it need update, but when i click on update, no update is found).
I’m designing a new great room and want to accomplish a couple of things:I want to have my turntable setup to play through my SONOS system I’m mounting a TV but don’t want to put my Beam or Arc under it for aesthetic reasons so am thinking of connecting the TV to 2 Sonance wall speakersAm I able to use an AMP to connect my TV and turntable into 2 Sonance wall speakers that would act as the speakers for the TV when it’s on, and the turntable when it’s on?Lastly, I would like to setup 2 outdoor Sonance but am not sure if I could wire them back to the TV/Turntable AMP.Side Note: currently we have a BEAM, MOVE, and 2 SONOS 1, so I’m assuming once I setup the AMP side of things, it can all integrate? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Hi guys, I have 2 VLANS, 1 for my IoT devices which the sonos products are on and 1 for my personal devices like phone, laptops, tablets. My current firewall is setup so that any traffic from the IoT vlan to the personal vlan will be dropped. I also enabled multicast dns on my network settings. Originally my iPhone was able to cast to the sonos speakers via spotify. However the sonos s2 app was not able to find my sonos system. I created a firewall rule “source: sonos device IPs → destination: any device on port 1400, 3400, 3401, 3500, 1900, 1901. I found those ports on this page: Configure your firewall to work with Sonos. After I created the rule, my iPhone is able to find my system. When I try to use the MacOS S2 app found here on my personal network, it can’t find the sonos devices.QuestionDo the desktop / MacOS apps need additional ports configured in the firewall for them to work with sonos systems in a different vlan? I’m a software developer creating a service for SONOS. I used to be able to use the form at http://:1400/customsd.htm to add my test service to the device, but it no longer works (although the form tells me “Success!” when I submit it). Is there still a way to do this? I’ve factory-reset the SONOS several times and uninstalled and reinstalled the app.
I have used Sonos for years, here is my current set of speakersFour Sonos Play 1’s - only two recognized by Sonos 2 One Sonos 3 One Sonos 5 (Gen 1) - Removed from the system One Sonos 5 (Gen 2) - Not recognized by Sonos 2 One Sub One Playbar One Sonos Connect - Removed from the systemAs the App slowly coached me over to Sonos 2, i was slow to move over and used to old app for some time. At some point I updated my system to Sonos 2 and it advised me at that time that some speakers were not compatible. Namely the Connect and the Sonos 5 (Gen 1). Not all speakers were online at the time i updated. Once done, i am no longer able to run the older application. Would it make sense that the ones not online (had them unplugged for various reasons) are excluded now?I now have two Play 1’s that are not recognized and the Sonos Play 5 (Gen2) is not recognized either. I have resent the Play 5 and still noting. It should work as defined in this article https://support.sonos.com/s/article/4786?langua
Sonos port / Marantz amp / auto switchingI’ve recently purchased a port to provide a zone in my den. The den has a Marantz amp with 5.1 system (non sonos), port is plugged into CD input using rcas.Is it possible to have the input automatically switch to cd if I start using sonos? Currently I have to switch it from the tv input to cd each time?!The tv can automatically switch from cd to tv when I use the tv remote which I assume is due to hdmi / e arc?🤷🏼♂️🙏🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Just purchased 2 Sonos Ports to replace my “Connects” and had no issue connecting the first to my house speakers, using the digital output. But the connection to my AV system was through the TV/CD input on my Integra Amp with an optical (Toslink) connector. There is no Toslink capability on the Port. Problem solved by using a digital coax to Toslink converter from Amazon for less than $15. Here’s a link. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0791CFGY1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I use a stereo pair of Sonos Move and an iMac with Catalina OS runningWhen I switch from Spotify to Youtube, I have to change the sound output each time.Meaning this:when I play spotify, I have to look for the Sonos output within Spotify. Which changes my Mac sound output to iMac Speakers When I now want to play a Youtube video, I have to change my Mac sound output to SOnos and in the process lose the Spotify connectionWhere do you think the problem is coming from ?
Hi I have just setup a connect to my Samsung 550 soundbar via a fibre optic from my tv to a splitter and connect to the splitter then on to my soundbar. Works great only problem is the soundbar is capable of a lot more power than it’s getting from the connect. Is there anything I can do? Thanks
I have a connect amp that is connected to a record player on my main floor. On my 2nd floor, I have a porch with 2 Sonance 62 outdoor speakers. I want to connect these speakers to my Sonos system, but am not sure how I can do so without buying another connect amp, or running wires, which i would rather not do. Here is my idea. Could I connect a rocket fish wireless rear speaker kit to my speakers. And then connect the receiver to my amp? https://www.rocketfishproducts.com/pdp/RF-WHTIB/8275528 In my head, it makes sense. I believe the rocket fish should have enough power for the speakers but not sure how to actually tell. I don't care about any delays as it's just for music. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
I have 2 routers. One in my house, and one in my shop. I have the router in my shop hard wired into my house. I am having problems connecting my Sonos One to the router in my shop. It wants to grab the weak Wi-Fi signal from my house. How do I connect the One speaker to the Wi-Fi router in my shop?
So, the goal is to have the music come on at a specific time and play a specific playlist via Spotify. We have 2 sonos products. A Sonos Amp (controlling a variety of ceiling speakers) and a Sonos One. They are groups together -- however, they cant be at the same volume level. The Amp needs to be at 50, while the One needs to be at 12. How can we set the alarm to have a specific volume for each? Or is there another way? Thank you
Long story short: we have two apartments in the same building, at different ends of the building, one on the ground floor, the other on the second floor. They’re separated by at least 100 feet. In the past, the Sonos devices in one apartment could not reach the ones in the other. Each apartment had its own internet, and we essentially had two entirely separate Sonos systems. Clunky and expensive. So we got an Orbi mesh system to bind the two apartments together. Works great overall, and we were able to cancel the second internet service. But once we tried to set up zones in Sonos, we started having problems. We currently have two zones: upstairs and downstairs. None of the Sonos devices are hard-wired to anything, and the upstairs zone is far enough away from downstairs that the Sonos devices upstairs can’t reach the others using their internal mesh. So the ones upstairs talk to each other over internal mesh, and the ones downstairs do the same in their zone, but any attempt to use zones
Like many in the Sonos community, I struggled with the right recipe to get playlists from a former macOS iTunes app library that had been migrated to the Music app library on a macOS upgrade to Catalina to import and be recognized by Sonos players from a remote network-attached storage (NAS) volume, such as QNAP or Synology. After experimentation, I believe I have developed a script that handles both iTunes app (prior to Catalina) and Music app (Catalina and later) that successfully allows the Sonos players (or at least Play:5 (Gen 2)) to import and play tracks from media and playlists on NAS volumes exported by those macOS apps.It is available at:https://github.com/gerickson/nas-sonos-itunes-syncThis script can either be run manually, one-demand from the command line or automatically, on a schedule as a LaunchAgent (see included example in the project).I have also been apprised of an app on the App Store that will do something similar, but with a nice UI/UX:https://apps.apple.com/us/ap
I’ve not seen this issue before. We have a setup of 4 x AMP’s with one hardwired to Router, other 3 all in the same Flexson mount connected via sonosnet inside a house.Outside the house in a garage detached we have a One SL - this is connected via a TP Link access point hardwired to the same router in the house which one of the AMP’s are connected to.Via the App in the Garage we can control the house AMP’s fine.BUT - i cannot get the One SL to add to the App - The App finds it, we connect using the join button - it says connecting for a while the indicator goes white and the App pops up a message that says install complete, but might not show up in System - unplug and re power. Doing this the One never appears.Take the One back in the house reset it and it joins network fine (i assume via Sonosnet) - take it back outside and it disappears from the app.The TP Link AP is definitely set to AP mode, DHCP is off on the AP, so unit will be getting address from House router - the tablet with t
I have a Beam and two Ones setup up with my TV, but I would like to be able to continue to play music with the TV on mute. Anytime the TV is turned on though the music playing in the entire house system is automatically dropped from the TV rooms (Beam and two Ones). Does anyone know if there is a work around from keeping the current music playing despite the TV being turned on.
I have two 70” Samsung TVs mounted right next to each other on my wall in my basement. I’m trying to figure out a way to toggle sound back and forth using one Beam. I tried using an HDMI switch but it doesn’t work. Any suggestions? Someone recommended I use the HDMI switch with audio optical HDMI adapters instead of the ARC HDMI ports. Not sure what else to try. Seems this should be an easy fix.
HiAm I right in thinking that I can add a old Sonos5 series1" to my Sonos Arc & x2 Sonos1 surrounds Setup/Room & play my vinyls through the 5s but enable playback through my arc & 1sThink that make sense 😳!🤣!& will there be any issue with the 5 being Series1 & the appI'll control everything from the new Sonos App so I can't see any As far as I can understand I'll just be using the 5 as a vinyl bridge into my Sonos Setup 😉!🤔!......
As above.I am not sure if anybody here use Untangle firewall but there seems to be a problem with Multicast traffic from the Beam. I can see the Beam issued with my assigned static IP but other than that, it doesnt to be able to setup properly.Any ideas to solve it?
I'm fully aware the sonos beam is not designed for production use but I really like the sound from it and want to use it as my reference monitor for music production. Although, I can't get over the fact there is a slight delay when playing real-time instruments through it. Like a drum pad or other virtual instruments. I think this is due to the input being hdmi. I think there's some kind of processing going on there that introduces a bit of delay. I think it's ~35ms. That's a lot for my purposes. I was thinking there has to be a way to hack the beam and diy another type of stereo input. Maybe I'm asking for too much from this and I should just get some 'real' speakers?
I just purchased this soundbar and I connected it to my LG C2 42” that I use as a “monitor” for my PC for gaming. Audio is working fine however I’m curious is there an optimal setting in windows I should be using when I go through the Sound Setting Configuration wizard? I can select either Stereo or Dolby Atmos for home theater. Does any configurations there create latency issues?
In this era of WFH I would like to be able to use the Sonos speakers throughout my house as speakerphones for regular phone calls and/or Zoom/webex/etc. meetings. It seems like my Sonos products have all the necessary hardware; but don’t have the right software and/or Bluetooth profile(s). Can this be added?
