House with Multiple Wifi Names - How to Add Players

Hey there, our house has mutliple Wifi names throughout: KitchenWifi, PoolWifi, LoungeWifi, BedroomWifi - the reason being is we found having them all the same name (eg. EntireHouseWifi) resulting in devices keeping a latch on routers that could be far away (weaker) rather than the stronger signals nearby. Having the wifi networks different names meant if you were on your laptop in the kitchen, you could purposefully choose "KitchenWifi" and be 100% sure you were on that particular router. My question then, is how do I connect different players to particular networks - from what I can see, you can only choose ONE, and your speakers will all try to latch to that name? Or am I wrong? Second part to the question is, if I connect my Play3 by the pool to the ethernet network via cable, does that take governance of the signal/path or will the speaker still attempt to join the Wifi mesh?

ZP80 Power Supply

A friend gave me an old ZP80 he had that didn't power on. I opened it up and there's a chip on the power supply that's blown up. The top of the IC is gone so I can't look up the part number. Curious if anyone has high res pictures or knowledge of the ZP80 power supply so I can replace the damaged parts? Thanks.

Auto power on amp

I have a Sonos Connect connected to an amp (more accurately a pair of active studio monitors, but effectively the same). Every time I start playing music for that room I need switch the power socket on for the multiplug that they're powered from. Other people may have amps that auto switch on when they detect an input signal but that's not an option for me. I would have thought its fairly common issue but I'm really struggling to find a solution. There's this discontinued product, the Parasound SCAMP: parasound.com/pdfs/vintage/scampom.pdf (Sorry, this forum won't let me post clickable links until I've posted 3 times!) Which while being on ebay is expensive, but more importantly the wrong voltage (and ideally would be better with kettle style power outputs, or at least UK sockets). I also found this, the ST-ACR2: rdlnet.com/product.php?page=278 But I have no idea how to hook this up, and even if I could I'd up up which a bunch of exposed wires on the shelf. Can anyon

Problems finding Sonos system when using powerlink adaptor to extend home network

My kitchen is a wifi blackspot and so I have used a TP-LINK AV200 power-line adaptor to extend the range of my wifi to that room. So I in effect have two wifi access points (for present purposes, lets call them HomeNet and HomeNet-TPL). My kitchen is the room we use the most and the Sonos Play 5 we have there connects to HomeNet-TPL. At least, I assume it does since they are next to each other and HomeNet doesn’t normally reach the kitchen. The Sonos Bridge connects by Ethernet cable to the Homenet Router. The problem is that my iPhone App doesn’t always find my Sonos Network when it connects to HomeNet-TPL (as it normally does when I am in the kitchen) and so I cannot control Sonos. I normally fix this by walking towards the HomeNet Router and then when my iPhone connects to that part of my network it then finds Sonos. However, this is an intermitted problem. Sometimes, my iPhone app does succeed in finding Sonos when it connects to HomeNet-TPL. Any ideas to avoid this anno

how to play whats on my android phone?

Is there a way of playing whatever is playing on my android phone, via my sonos system? Things like BBC iplayer, bbc podcasts, youtube? Loads of radio shows just aren't available on stitcher or the radio section. Cheers Chris

Can I use sonos system without an internet network at home?

i want to use sonos in a presentation setting. Currently i have a microphone connected to a mixer, and the mixer connected to an amplifier wired with speakers. I want to replace the wired speakers with wireless speakers. I don't have internet network. Is it possible with sonos? If so, what sonos equipments do I need to buy to accomplish what I want?

Hook your Sonos system to IFTTT and control it with the cloud

For those unfamiliar, [URL="https://ifttt.com"]If This Then That (IFTTT)[/URL] is a service that lets you hook two internet services together, with the first acting as a trigger and the second as a destination. For instance, you can say IF a new Instagram photo is posted in a certain area, THEN save it to my dropbox folder. I've written an app that (with some work) hooks a Sonos system to IFTTT. So you can do things like IF someone tweets with a hashtag, THEN speak the tweet through my Sonos, or IF I arrive home, THEN play a specific Sonos Favorite. It's pretty cool to ponder the neat things you can do with the scores of channels that IFTTT offers. Check it out, and let me know if you have any questions. Sonos Network New Install

Hi Guys I've installed 15 Sonos speakers and a bridge two days ago. Two connected buildings two storey over basement, old, lots of granite walls. Bridge in comms room and a selection of speakers throughout the building Play 5, Play 3 and mostly play 1. No more than 20-30 feet between any speaker. On Sunday when I installed, everything worked perfectly and updated nicely. Speakers were all in a group, playing radio fine. Yesterday got a bit patchy after we installed spotify with speakers stuttering then stopping completely. Today nothing, in the Sonos App on a PC server I can only see four speakers and sometimes one or two will pop in and out. Really frustrating as the MD spent €2,500 on my recommendation. If I were to wire the speakers using the ethernet port at the back of the speakers, would this allow wired networking as opposed to wireless which may be patchy? I have also installed 9 ubiquity unify wireless access points throughout the building at the weekend so if the

12v trigger for ZP90

A 12v Trigger would come in very handy when you have multiple ZP90's in a system and they are all wired to a multi channel amplifier. When the zone is activated the trigger would relay the amp to turn on and vice versa. The trigger also would help in heat build up and amp not being on 24/7.

Managing m3u playlists and multiple players

The M3U playlist standard is a wonderful way to create lists of your favorite music to play on your mp3 device. However, it gets maddening when you have multiple devices sharing the same mp3 library. Why don’t all devices use a standard way to implement the playlist? Here is what I am referring to: I use [B]Winamp[/B] to create and edit playlists on a Windows 7 machine. The mp3 files are all stored on a NAS server mapped to drive M on the Windows machine. This server is also host to [B]Logitech Squeezebox Server[/B], and is UPnP which provides the interface for my [B]Sonos[/B] devices. Added to that I own a Cadillac with a [B]CUE[/B] system that uses an exact copy of my mp3 directory on the NAS server but it is stored on a flash drive. Each system (Squeezebox, Sonos, CUE and Winamp) has their own requirements for the pathname in the m3u playlists. To specify, [B]Winamp[/B] prefixes everything with “M:\” where M: is the Windows drive letter mapped to the NAS music directory.

When I first installed my Sonos it was required all the components be on the same subnet (no routing). I've now grown a more sophisticated routed network at home. is there anything I could run on a linux box to bridge the traffic between 2 subnets so that the sonoses are reachable from either wireless system?

Line-In compression

Hi - it is a while since I looked at this and I have a few queries. I presume that it is digital stream compression not audio compression/limiting as used by radio stations, that wouldn't make sense? I see that there is now an "automatic" option. Does any one know exactly what that means? Do we know if it is lossless (as per FLAC which achieves quite good compression wrt WAV)? Or is it lossy (as per MP3)? I am asking because I have been using line in from my Hi-Fi and recently it has started to break up. I found that it was set to automatic. Changing it to compressed removes the problem - I have not tried using uncompressed yet.

Sonos and Meraki

We have been long time users of Sonos equipment and it has worked flawlessly behind all of our previous routers at our locations. We have recently implemented Meraki MX90 and MX80 firewalls/routers at our main location and branch locations. After doing so we are no longer able to use the Sonos equipment. I can see the device on the network but can not connect to it and it doesn't connect out to the internet. I have enabled all the required ports, have whitelisted the device in the Meraki, and we still get nothing. Surely in all the Sonos world someone has come across a Meraki frontend...Any help would be appreciated.

Hi-resolution support required (eg: AIFF 96kHz/24bit)

PLEASE add hi-resolution file support (eg. AIFF 96kHz/24bits) In a world where CDs are becoming obsolete, I believe a good share of Sonos customers are still looking for hi-fi quality, not only the mediocre (format) quality provided by most digital music services/stores. It is rather purpose less to invest in the acquisition and maintenance of such a high quality product as a Sonos system and, not being able to play the best sound quality available with it! Thanks for kindly prioritizing such improvement :o)

Boat Configuration Question

I have a boat. I have used Sonos for the past year. I have 2 play 5s, one sub, 5 play 3s, and one connect amp. I have a NAS. I don't have a broadband but use my ipad to control everything and it works great all the time using my NAS and most of the time using MOG (Subscription). However, when I move from marina to marina, if the marina doesn't have Wi-Fi, I use my own hotspot (AttUnite), and a 450 trendnet dual band router. That is when I get conflicts. the failure is always the same message, "unable to add tracks to the queue", (NAS works great but MOG doesn't load tracks), however, my playlists from MOG play as I get to MOG and see there menu like "just for you" when I select a track it says unable to add track to queue. Oddly, my playlists will play after I select them a time or two. I have looked at each devices channel and they are all different (I changed them). Yes I power down each device each time and powered up in router, bridge, ZP order. Ideas? Also, when I check

How do I setup sonos with my turntable system?

I bought sonos so I could set it up with my turntables and mixer system, doing away with my wired speakers and offering more flexibility. So far though I haven't had any joy in getting this correct. I did phone in a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't hear back. I have two technics 1210's connected to an Allen and Heath mixer which is then connected to a Cambridge Audio amp, which was then connected to two speakers. I have a Sonos Bridge, Sonos Connect and a play 5. If someone can help with instructions/diagrams on how this should be set up I would be delighted.
