Hello Sonos community, I am doing some initial research to see if a Sonos system would be compatible with our network infrastructure. We have an internal proxy server here so I want to make sure that the Sonos equipment would be able to pass through it. The other topic I want to understand is which ports are absolutely necessary for the Sonos to work on our network. We only plan on using Hotel Radio, Rockbot, Mood Mix, Sound Machine or Tribe of Noise services. We'd like to control all of the Sonos players through the PC or Mac Music control application. We wont be using an android phone or iOS device for this. Here is a list of ports that Sonos requires but I'm sure we don't need all of them. The ones underlined are IMO essential. Please let me know what you guys think. Thank you! There are a couple of other threads in the forums about people having problems using their Sonos system after updating their WiFi to the new Google WiFi mesh network. I wanted to share my experience as well, especially if you also are on Google Fiber. I am on Google Fiber in Kansas City. My entire home network was working just fine... I have a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 wireless router configured as a an access point. I only switched to Google's WiFi ($300) because I am an early adopter. When I switched, setup of the Google WiFi three access points was easy. Things were working great and I was getting decent speeds. The problem is, I couldn't use my Sonos controller on my iPhone or iPad any more. So I went through a lot of trial and error and never got it figured out. I factory reset my Sonos bridge and turned off all of my Sonos speakers to try a fresh install. No matter what I tried, the iOS device connected to my Google WiFi could never see the Sonos bridge, even though it was h
As soon as I select a speaker trough the Spotify app it tries to connect for about 5 to 10 seconds before it goes back to the status not connected. It's the same with every speaker and I have no idea what the problem could be ?
Assuming everything is hard-wired Cat5: if I daisy chain a MacBook Pro to a Sub to a Play:5 to another Play:5 to ultimately a router (Apple AirPort Express), will the MacBook Pro effectively be on the LAN (IP address, network performance)? I have terrible interference in my apartment so Sonos speakers are always dropping off the network and songs frequently drop out. I want to play music uncompressed and wonder if the best quality for that is the connect the MBP directly to the router or if I will get the same level of network performance by connecting the MBP directly into the Sub. Another reason for the question is that the MBP is next to the Sub and the router is about 50 feet away (as the cable runs).
I've connected my Playbar via the optical cable to my new Samsung 65" TV (Model: UN65KU6300FXZA) and turned off the TV speakers. But I can't seem to figure out how to have the volume of the Playbar go up and down while using the TV remote. How do I do this ?
I am having some problems that I think have been discussed but I cannot find a solution to my problem. INTERNET SETUP I am running three routers in my setup. xxx.xxx.x.1 (DHCP server) xxx.xxx.x.2 (DHCP disabled) xxx.xxx.x.3 (DHCP disabled) the three are on different channels (1,6,11) and all three share the same SSID and password. This works fine for my internet setup and I have a seamless connection throughout my house and for all general purposes this is great and I will keep this setup. SONOS EQUIPMENT I have 5 play:1, 1 GEN1 Play5; Player; ConnectAMP; and a 1st gen bridge (not sure what this is called anymore). The bridge is connected to xxx.xxx.x.1 directly. CONNECTION ISSUES When I am close to the xxx.xxx.x.1 router (and using it) and I connect my controller (App) I see my Sonos network and can use all of my gear. If I am closer to one of the other routers I lose my Sonos network and cannot see anything. If I move closer to the xxx.xxx.x.1 router and pick it up a
Hey guys, I am getting the majority of setup on my new automated home finished. Right now I am stuck on "moods" for listening on my Sonos. Example: In my livingroom/office, I set up three "moods" 1.) Morning chill 2.) Office background music 3.) End of day Rock playlist Currently, when I select any other these playlists in Harmony (each playlist is listed in my Sonos Favorites and then shown in the harmony remote), SONOS takes all the songs in the playlist and adds to the current queue. This happens both when starting a new "listen to sonos" with a selected channel as well as when using the remote to select a new playlist once the the activity is started. This obviously doesn't work well, considering I am trying to change the mood of the room permanently with each selection, not mix the playlists together. Has anyone figured a way to have Harmony replace queue, instead of add to queue? Alternatively, is there a way to have Sonos default to replace queue, instead
Sonos says "For podcasts to show up in the Sonos app under "On this Mobile Device," they must reside in the 'Podcasts' folder on your Android controller. The podcasts folder should be in the root directory of your Android device" What does "reside in the Podcasts folder" mean? That all the media files for all podcasts have to be in that foldre? Can there be subfolders? Has anyone gotten this to work?
I realize this is a home product, but I would love to use it on my corporate network in my office... I was wondering if akin to the ability to shut off the wireless there was a way to disable the bridging so that a corporate network won't immediately "protect" itself and shut a port down.
Ik ben waarschijnlijk een ongelofelijke Sonos-noob maar ik stel toch de vraag. Ik heb een 5.0 surround met playbar en 2 play 1. Nu wil ik 1 of allebei de play 1 los gebruiken in een andere ruimte. Hoe stel ik dat in en dat ik ze daarna weer terug kan plaatsen in de surround setting? Ik kom er via de app niet echt goed uit. Thanks!
I have a Monitor Audio Soundbar (ASB-2), Sonos Connect and Play: 3. The Play 3 is connected wirelessly and the Sonos Connect is connected to the Monitor Soundbar via an optical cable. I play music through the soundbar in the sitting room and the Play: 3 in the office. Is it possible to get rid of the Sonos Connect and still continue use Sonos to connect to the soundbar? Or is there another Sonos bridge that would allow me to connect to the Soundbar via HDMI instead of optical?
Hi all, I did not find this specific question anywhere, so here I co My ground floor setup, in rooms in an old house that are linked via multiple arches, hence I need speakers everywhere. seating area: 2 play:5 gen2 in stereo setup (so 1 zone/room) kitchen area: 1 play:5 (in its own zone/room) children play area: 1 play:1 (in its own zone/room) If I buy a sub, I will become part of the seating area zone/room. So now the question: If I group all zones to play music throughout all areas, will the play:5 in my kitchen and the play:1 in the play area adapt (w.r.t. crossover frequency) to the sub then being part of the same group?
I have two homes. One is a vacation home, the other my main residence. I currently have a large iTunes library database of over 1,500 CDs that I ripped to a rack mounted RAID Network Storage Device (NAS). Sonos works wonderfully with this system at my primary home. I have many Sonos devices at both homes. So I bought a 2TB portable NAS unit and copied all of my iTunes data onto that device.I carried that device to my vacation home, plugged it into my network, and told my Sonos controller the location of the copied iTunes Database. Sonos refuses to play the music saying that I don't have permission to access these files. I own the music. These were not downloaded files. It is all from CDs that I had purchased. Can anyone tell me how to correct this situation?
I've connected my Playbar to my router via ethernet cable. As the playbar doesn't have a line in to connect directly to echo. How do I get my echo, which is connected to my (same) wifi router to connect to sonos? The echo app only seems to look for bluetooth, which I believe is not a feature on sonos. I also have a Play1.
I've failed twice trying to get an auxiliary wireless way in to my Sonos system. Is there a solution? I sometimes wish to listen to music on webpages (like Bandcamp before purchasing) and for that purpose I've tried connecting both a Bluetooth Reciever and Airplay/Airport Express to my Connect line in. But both setups have failed. It seems impossible to get sound without major interruptions. I realize the wireless traffic is increased since it is: Basestation to computer - computer to Bluetooth and then the ordinary Sonos traffic. But is this really to much for making it work? Especially Bluetooth shouldn't consume too much bandwidth. Wifi Router is perhaps 4-5 meters from computer, computer has been between one to three meters when trying. Why isn't this working. The interruptions I get are major. Completely useless audio.
Current setup: - Samsung UN55KU6300 with smart remote - Sonos Playbar - HDMI 1: Ruko 3 - HDMI 2: Playstation 4 I am attempting to configure my TV remote to control the volume coming from the Sonos Playbar. The Remote Control Setup feature in the Sonos app does not inherently work with this TV remote, and I already found help topics describing how to use the Universal Remote setup on the TV to assign a dummy device to the TV input, thus enabling the IR transmitter on the TV remote. Then, the Sonos Remote Control Setup feature will complete successfully. My issue is that the volume control will only work for that single TV input. If I change inputs, the remote no longer controls the Sonos Playbar volume unless I go through the Remote Control Setup again, in which case it overwrites the connection with the other input. I know other people have been having this issue, but has anyone found a solid solution? My TV does not have an IR input, so I can't use an IR blaster. Has a
Is anybody able to use the limited UPnP server option available in Sonos? ie. Manage|Settings|Advanced|MusicSouces|ShowRhapsodyUPnPServers Are you able to browse the server? Are you able to queue albums? Which media server are you using? Or, is anyone successfully browsing and queuing albums using Sonos' "Show Windows Media Server" option? I would like experiment a little with these, but am having trouble finding anything which works.
I have a b&o mini system in the living room with the sonos hooked into it from line out. I have run speakers to the kitchen as well, in the other room. Problem I am having is that the signal on line out is not as strong as the direct speakers from the sonos amp. Wondering what a good solution might be, headphone amp system. other problem is the speakers are in the kitchen and can't be muted. Not enough room for sonos in kitchen. anybody.... I know I know silly setup. just didn't want the amp to waste...
