Dear Sonos Team,I have a projector, which leads to a suboptimal speaker setup for the room. The projector and beam are behind the couch, while the surround speakers (two 3s) are in front of us. Is it possible to flip the output, such that the main audio comes from the surround speaker (in front of me) and the surround sound comes from the beam. I don’t want to have wires running up and down and across my minimalistic living room, with a beam floating alone on an empty wall where the projection is. Thanks for your support!
Does anyone have any recommendations for a portable CD player that I can connect to my Sonos Five? I have a large CD collection that I'd like to inergrate into my Sonos environment and my Five appears the best way to do so. I'm looking for something under $100. Thanks in advance.
I am setting up a new system during a remodel. I am a rookie and any advice would be much appreciated. SETUP:I have a Sonos beam sound bar for my family room tv. I plan to have 3 Sonos Ports driving house sound in various rooms of my house and outside through third party amp and third party in ceiling speakers. GOAL:I would like to use my in ceiling speakers in the family room to alternate between house sound and surround sound. It appears a requirement to have Sonos in ceiling speakers (vs 3rd party) to connect to create surround. QUESTIONS:Will my port/third party amp set up work for surround if I buy Sonos in ceiling speakers? (I just set up with third party speakers and it does not work). Or do I have to have both Sonos amp and Sonos in ceiling speakers? if I am able to get the above surround to work, will I be able to toggle my family room Sonos in ceiling speakers to do surround when watching a movie then group with the rest of the house for house sound! Thanks for any feedba
I want to be able to use a pair of Sonos One’s with a wifi capable Blu-Ray player without actual internet access. The application is in a motorhome with TV/HDMI connections. I don’t have internet setup/router in the RV. Would like to use my iPhone accessing my Apple Music library via cellular or occasionally wifi via an RV park and playing it over the Sonos. Also playing DVD’s, BR discs, and music files (Flac, ALAC, etc) stored on a USB drive. There are wifi capable players, but can they set up a local network for my purposes?
I have an Arc with the Sonos wall mount which is mounted into a brick wall. The amount of sound that goes into the wall and therefore into the room on the other side of the wall is too much.Has anyone tried dampening the sound, such as putting in a sound absorbent panel cut to the shape of the mount in between the wall and the mount? As it is it’s just too loud in the other room.I see Sanus make a different wall mount that extends from the wall and also a mount that attaches to the TV, so perhaps I will have to use a different mounting method if there’s nothing that can be done here with the Sonos wall mount. Thanks for any advice!
Hello,We are deploying Microsoft Defender for Endpoint to our users.Mobile devices are fully company managed devices, but we do allow users to install their own apps, as long as its installed from official app stores. We received some complains that users are not able to use their Sonos App after configuring defender for endpoint. Defender for Endpoint is a enterprise endpoint security product and it uses a “local” VPN solution to filter malicious or other unwanted traffic from device. The thing is, because it uses the VPN (event though its a local vpn and not a real vpn) the Sonos application does not allow you to scan for local sonos devices. Is there any documentation or other information available that we can verify if this is a an issue that could be solved by Sonos or is it something that should be fixed by Microsoft?
For 2+ years I had no issues using Sonos speakers and AirPods off the same devices. All great. I typically play to Sonos using AirPlay rather than the Sonos app.In the last ~1 month, I am getting really annoying behavior where I can’t successfully switch from AirPods to Sonos - I get the spinning wheel of death on the speaker glyph in OSx/iOS. The variation is that it’ll connect, but when I close the AirPods case, it’ll drop the Sonos connection and I can’t re-establish it. When I check the Sonos app, it thinks the speaker is playing the stream but it is actually coming out of my laptop/phone speaker. The fix is to reboot the speaker. Any ideas?
After the most recent update, I have lost 4 one’s ( 2 are sl 2 reg latest version) Yes, I have been in contact with Sonos but the more that go down ( zero power ) the more I get scared to even plug anything in. I have probably 10K in Sonos devices. I have had an electrician even come out to make sure no surges and nothing wrong at the outlets. Within one month I lost 4. I have or had many products on this series of outlets but only the ones are affected. When you deal with support you get different ideas but I have tried everything to check and make sure all of my products are safe. Any ideas or any ways to fix the power issue? Yes, they are in process of replacing but its a pain in the a**2 arcs1 beam 4 fives4 subs gen 210 ones3 ampsmany in wall and in ceiling speakers + outdoor4 bookshelfs, 2 lamps, 2 picture frames so you can understand my fear from the list I have Any advice is greatly appreciated
Greetings! My system includes:1 x Connect (ZP90) (connected to LAN via ethernet)2 x Connect:Amp (ZP120) All running S1 with the latest firmware and software. ZP90 connected to the Internet via Ethernet cable. I am wondering: do ZP120s allow wired connection with Ethernet cable to ZP90 in serial mode: ZP90 === ZP120 === ZP120? The idea is to exclude Sonot Wi-Fi network and increase stability of the network connection. Thank you.
Currently, I have a Play 5 gen 1 that I use an Apple airport express to play my music because it’s an airplay router. Works great.I just purchased a new 5, and someone told me that I can “group” them together, and both will work. Not sure if that’s true, and it’s my first experience trying to do this.Any suggestions? Thanks
Hi all,I have a Sonos Amp with two passive speakers and two Sonos Ones setup in surround mode. I use a Mac Mini and an AppleTV to play content, they are connected via HDMI to the TV, which passes on an optical signal to the Amp via the Sonos adapter. One of the things I was most excited to try out with this setup was multichannel audio. I am very pleased with the results, and am looking forward to a lot of amazing listening.I have been able to playback multichannel audio in two ways, either converting my flac files to AC3 with ffmpeg and playing them via Kodi set to to passthrough, or activating AC3 transcoding in Kodi and playing flac directly.I also use Plex and Infuse, but was not able to get them to either passthrough or transcode. Can anyone recommend any other player, or other solution to play multichannel music with the Amp running either on OS X or AppleTV?
https://www.theregister.com/2020/04/30/spotify_speaker_pairing_internet/TLDR: Once you connect Spotify to your Sonos on the local network, the Spotify app can control it remotely over the internet for ever and ever more.****NB: I do not believe this to be related to adding Spotify as a music service. The feature described above works on a Sonos without Spotify added as a service. How do you boot a remote user off of the Sonos?Appreciate a real answer from someone who has done this or a support rep, there is a lot of erroneous or out of date info on the internet. My guess is factory reset might work, but I’m not sure.
I’m just now getting to understand how Sonos and Airplay work. If I have an Airplay enabled Sonos device (“Device A”) and several older non-airplay Sonos devices:Can a create, say, Group 1 with Device A and Device B (non-airplay) and the Group 2 with Device A and Device C (non-airplay)? (I tried this, it seems to work) How do I select which group will be airplayed? So far, I can only Airplay through Device A alone OR Devices A, B, and C. What am I missing?
I have a Playbar, Sub and 2 Sonos Ones in my living room. I have a 3rd Sonos One in the kitchen which is connected to the living room essentially making it one large room. I currently have them grouped together but I want the kitchen One to be able to control the living room volume via the physical buttons and Alexa commands initiated from the kitchen to control the living room. Basically I'd like to just have all 3 Ones added to the living room but that doesn't seem possible. For a long time I just swapped the right side living room One and the kitchen One which accomplished the control issue but of course sacrificed on the sound. Is there a proper way to do this?
I have Sonos set up across three different locations/ homes.I was hoping to be able to take my roam from one home to the next , and for it to be able to connected to different Sonos systems via the app via wifi that is operating other Sonos speakers I registered the roam at one house & have now moved to the next , however I can only use this roam in Bluetooth mode , the new system will not locate this device ! how do I connect it to the currents home wifi ?
I plan to run 3 pairs of Sonos/Sonance in-ceiling speakers off of one (1) Sonos Amp. I would like to be able to control the volume of each of the pairs independently. I have been investigating two options:Utilize a speaker selector with volume controls. I’ve seen several on amazon from Niles, Pyle, Russond, etc. Utilized individual in-wall volume controls. I’m looking at the Niles VSC100k volume controller. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007N0TB14/?coliid=I2OEKYW122JM5P&colid=1E2M3IRSRYJHX&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_itDoes anyone have an opinion on the pros and cons of each option? Is one option a clear choice? Thanks in advance,Todd
Hi -- wondering if anyone has any insight into this, and how to overcome it. I have two paired Sonos 1 speakers paired to play in stereo. I’d originally named them Office when I set them up, but then I moved them into my kitchen. I’ve renamed the pair “Kitchen” via the app on my phone and on my laptop, and at first the change seems to take. Then, usually the next time I go to play something on them, the name has reverted back to Office. I’d thought maybe this was a bug related to the speakers having been added to my Alexa setup, so I disabled the sonos skill on alexa, renamed them to Kitchen, then re-enabled the sonos skill and re-added the speakers. Same thing, in Alexa they first show up as the new name but then revert back to being named Office. Anyone know how I can make this name change permanent? Thanks!
