I got my PS4 and PC coonected to my LG TV via HDMI and the TV connected to the Playbar + two Play1s. I got 5.1 passthrough to work on my TV with my PS4 (the Sonos app verifies the 5.1 signal), but I'm struggling with my PC. As far as I can see the problem is with Windows not with Sonos or my TV. The PC detects the TV with Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) as stereo which it is, but it can't "see" the Sonos system so no other options are available than stereo in Windows sound settings. This is a common problem, nothing new here. When connecting a surround receiver between the PC and TV the soundcard detects multiple channels from the receiver, so there're suddenly multiple options in Windows sound settings (stereo, 5.1, 7.2 etc.). As far as I know you can't force an 5.1 output via HDMI. I've been doing a bit of googling and I stumpled upon this thread (http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-2914929/home-theater-difficulties-audio.html) where someone suggested this: [i]"W

I cannot be near the system during the limited support hours. They supposedly flagged my account for 5.X. But isn't there a file based update I can apply? Always tries to update and then yields Error Code: 11 Serial Number: 00-0E-58-27-A2-7C:5 Version: 3.6 (build 16548010a) Hardware Version: 188.8.131.52-1 IP Address: 192.168.0.111 WM: 0 r8: 16.0-7
So I just bought a house and it has a couple of in-ceiling and outdoor speakers. The prior owner has some older (from 2003) Niles volume control knobs installed, and left a Niles MVC-HUB4 unit. The unit looks like this: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/299674/Niles-Mvchub4.html#manual I think I can figure out how to hook the Niles unit back up, since there are groups of 4 wires and groups of 2 wires.... but how can I connect this to a Connect:AMP? The Niles unit has a 4-wire block that says "Input from amp", but I'm not sure how to wire that to the Sonos. Thanks in advance!
I just bought an LG TV and am trying to link it up to my PLAYBAR. There seem to be good tutorials on exactly this on this forum, however they are not helping as I can't seem to find 'Room Settings' in my iOS or Mac Sonos apps. Example instructions from Sonos: "Sonos app for Mac: Select Sonos > Preferences. Click Room Settings and choose the room the PLAYBAR or PLAYBASE is located in from the drop-down. Click the TV Setup tab. Click Remote Control Setup. Follow the in-app instructions to configure your new remote to control the PLAYBAR or PLAYBASE." See attached screenshot for what I see under Preferences, only date and time settings. Similar issues with iOS app, I can only go as far as 'Settings' but there are no 'Room Settings' there. Thanks
I have the whole Sonos home theater at home and love it! I'm thinking about buying some additional speakers for the cabin where there in NO internet.... like none. Questions: Will a play 1 or 3 work without internet? If I set up on my home network and take it off site to another location can I manually plug my phone into it and use it as a Bluetooth speaker?
Hi! I'm new to Sonos and hope to clarify this before I pull the trigger. My question pertains to whether it's possible, and if so how easy is it, to pair a Sub with various configurations of a Playbar and Play:5s in my home. More specifically: Background: ----------------- - I intend to get a Playbar, Sub and two Play:5s - installation of the above would be in an open living/dining space 38' x 22' - the Playbar and Sub go to one end of this long space (living area), one of the Play:5s would also sit here on a floor stand, the other Play:5 (also on a floor stand) goes to the other end of this room (dining area) - both ends of this long room open up to outdoor entertainment areas Usage Scenarios: ------------------------ 1) When watching TV content, I would primarily like to drive the Playbar, low freqs sent to the Sub, Play:5s off. 2) Perhaps once in a while for big movies, I may want to drive the Playbar AND the Play:5s too, so everything is on, with ALL low freqs
Hi, We have 4 x Play 1 and 2 x Playbar set up in a large corporate office. Our IT guys have managed to hack the set up to allow our Play 1s to operate outside our normal network but we are now trying to add 2 x Playbars to new TVS and the system and they are lost. Happy to pay for an expert to come and sort it for us. Can anyone recommend someone in Sydney Australia that does this kind of work?
Two problems: 1) CROSSFADE > I always want my Spotify music to crossfade. However, every time I close and reopen Sonos or Spotify app, I have to re-enable crossfade. Is there something I'm missing to get this setting to stick? 2) ROOM GROUPS > I just picked up a used Play5 (S5 Gen 1) and added it to my stereo pair Play 1s in my den. I added the Play5 as a separate room (Family Room) because I wanted to maintain the Play1's separately as a stereo pair under "Den" (they are in the same room however). In order to get the three to play together, I've grouped them. So now I have "Family Room + 1" when I play music or line-in from the TV. However, I find that when I close and reopen the Sonos app, the room groups get reset to individual rooms. Is is possible to save a room grouping so that Sonos will remember and default to it until I change it?
Hello. I would like to formally make an enhancement request. Please, please, please, add a password protection mechanism to the Sonos Controller. I work in a variety of offices that have spent a small fortune on Sonos equipment, and we have the same problem at each office: People hijack the Sonos, skip other people's music, play inappropriate music, tweak the volume, etc. A simple password protection mechanism would rid me of so many headaches without the need for advanced network configuration changes.
Hello! I purchased a Sonos Play 5 to match up with my new UTurn Orbit turntable with built in pre-amp. When playing apple music or other digital music through my Sonos, the sound is about twice as loud as when I play a record. Ie the record at full volume is about the same as 50/60% volume for the digital music. Even if i switch back and forth between record and digital for the exact same song it is not the same sound level. This is my first turntable - is that normal? The details of the preamp are here: https://uturnaudio.com/products/pluto-phono-preamp I appreciate any guidance & wisdom! thanks, Chris
Hi all, I'm currently confused by what my Sonos system (or rather, its software) is trying to tell me. I just updated my server's OS a few days ago, when suddenly Sonos wasn't able to access the Samba/NAS share on that device any more, stating access was denied. I removed my music library folder using the Sonos App (on my Windows PC) and tried to re-add it, again resulting in an "Access denied" error. The same occurs when I try to re-add my NAS folder via Android App. The directory permissions in the (path to the) Samba share folder were not altered, and also the smb.conf file was not modified in any way. Accessing the Samba-enabled folders on my server still works fine from my Windows PC as well. Does anyone have an idea what else may be the reason for the sudden loss of access to my Samba share folder?
I have 4 Sonos play 1, I also have 1 play 5, connect amp, 2 airport express from Apple extending my network wirelessly (Bridge mode). Sometime the system cuts out for a few seconds and comes back. Other times recently the system stops all together and I have to hit play for the line in a after about 10 minutes. My diagnostics confirmation number is 7483149. Please tell me if my system is setup ok or if I need to change anything.
I have 2 Access Points, they are SonicPoint ACi's and i can only connect to my Sonos Connect Box when im on the same Access point as the Sonos Connect Box, When i go to the other end of the house and try and connect with my app it wont see it. The WLAN (wifi access points network) are on their own Subnet, i was unable to bridge the WLAN to LAN to only have a single subnet even with help from sonicwall i was unsuccessful so i had to create a 2nd subnet. When i try and hardwire somthing to the WLAN network for anything other than a Access Point it wont dish out DHCP or anything else to be able to plug the Sonos Connect in via Ethernet. Any ideas or am i just stuck being able to only connect to the sonos if im on the same end of the house as the network rack? Or should i look at a HEOS system.
I have a pair of PLAY:1s in a stereo pair. Both connect to SonosNet via a BOOST. What happens if I directly connect the two speakers with an Ethernet cable? Will one of the speakers receive its communication over the wire, while the other talks to the BOOST wirelessly? Just curious, not trying to solve any problem I'm experiencing.
Is there a way to share Sonos playlists, favorite, and such between two homes/locations on different WiFi networks? I simply want the Sonos favorites and playlists to be updatable from either two locations and available in both. [No need for the locations to be controlled from either location or play the same music as if they were all in one location.] Yes, it would be nice if adding music sources in one location added them to both/all.
I've recently purchased a second hand CONNECT:AMP. This is now setup and connected to one custom build speaker. Currently the custom build speaker is connected to the LEFT output channel of the CONNECT:AMP. The RIGHT output channel of the CONNECT:AMP is not connected to anything. Is there a way of bridging the two speaker outputs into 1 channel, for 1 speaker? So basically my questions is: How can I connect 1 custom build speaker to both output channels of the SONOS CONNACT:AMP?
We rent a vacation house for six weeks, and I want to set up my Sonos system there. I will be bringing the computer that holds all my music. What is the best way to set up the system in the vacation home so that I will not have to recreate my home network when I return?
