I have my music on a linux computer and want to play it through my Amp (on the same wired ethernet network). What is the best server software that the Amp can readily access?
As press250 says, you’ll probably just end up using Samba. When I first set up my system I had hopes that I could set up a DLNA server on my Linux box but… it didn’t work! Installation is trivial but I found Samba configuration to be a bit of a pain - but it worked (eventually).
On a slightly different subject, don’t forget Noson - available in the repositories for Mint and Ubuntu, among others. That will play back media that’s on the hard disk of the system that it’s running on. Maybe one day Sonos will update the system firmware to kill it off, but it seems to run fine at the moment…
